Tips On Efficient Parenting
Parenting is challenging as we well about know it. Let us consider what Hodding Carter says
about parenting. “The two greatest things that you can give your children are roots and wings”. In
other words, it is important to bring your children up in a culturally and socially acceptable
manner. It is also very important that you give them the space and freedom they need to paint
their lives in a way that will make them happy and productive.
Before moving further, we need to understand the fact that parenting isn’t a rocket science but in
every phase of your child’s life, you need to have different approaches. According to William
Shakespeare, there are 7 ages of life. Let us dig in deeper and see how each needs a new
outlook, a new perspective in terms of parenting. However, there is always one thing that lays a
strong foundation for all the stages above which is nothing but love!
Here are a few things that will certainly be helpful in parenting, which will make you and your
precious little ones happy.
1. Infancy –
The first stage of your child is infancy. The prime motive here should be to pamper them, spend
quality time with them. Infancy is a time span of 1-2 years. Spoil them, caress them, humour
them, do anything so that you see that million-dollar smile.
2. Toddler –
And before you know, your child is developing a personality. This age needs utmost detailing.
Focus on their traits and nurture them in the right direction. Stubborn, quiet, commanding,
creative, naughty or whatever your child’s psyche is, it is who they are. So, don’t try to mould
their nature according to your likes and dislikes but instead focus on how you can improvise their
trait in a productive way.
3. Early school age –
This is precisely 5-7 years of age. In this age the children need told about the right and the wrong
in a very subtle way. They start interacting with other people and they are bound to learn from
their surroundings. When you start giving them a hint of the right-wrong concept, they are
nudged towards the good path.
4. Middle school age –
8-12 years of your child’s age comes under this stage. This stage is when you need to start
imparting culture and feed their thoughts and focus on their weaknesses because the next stage
is a task for every parent. So, by knowing their mindset you will be able to handle their teenage
better.
5. Early adolescence –
This is usually the toughest phase in both parents’ and the kids’ life. But with right approach, this
could be the most beautiful stage. Children tend to deviate from their ethics and tend to believe
that everything that they are dealing with is right. This is where you stop being a parent and start
being a friend to them. A small wrong step here can make your kid rebellious and bitter. So,
watch your step.
6. Later adolescence-
This is the age from 18-25 years and this is the beginning of your children taking up major
decisions in their life. Here you need to focus on guiding them. Give them the freedom they need
and help them out when they reach out to you.
7. Adulthood –
Your children will be well established by now and will be chasing their dreams. More than
assistance they expect a lot of love and trust from you now.
There! Your little one is an inspiring adult now!
