TACRON TWELVE

Commanding Officer,

CDR Ryan “Flip” Phillips

TALON PRIDE!

“MISSION FIRST, SAILORS ALWAYS”

During this quarter, we sent Detachment TWO on Patrol, and before the conclusion of the quarter, we welcomed much of the detachment back. Once again, the TALON reputation of getting the job done safely and successfully has continued in a long line of superior performance. Working in one of the world’s most unpredictable environments, the detachment coordinated efforts with TACRON ELEVEN and ROK Navy to successfully demonstrate to the region that both countries are capable and prepared to defend South Korea from hostile actions from Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The detachment did all that while improving combat readiness in TACC with 20 new qualifications, 3 new Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialists, 5 new Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialists, and requalifying four Warfare Specialists. This will be the last time I address the command through the TALON Times, and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your hard work, professionalism, dedication, and simply looking out for each other. The first three Sailors to email me that they read this will get 24 hour liberty. I am confident that the command will only continue to improve under the leadership of CDR Cruthirds and CDR Moreno. In my first article, I remember stating that I was so fortunate to have been selected for command of TACRON TWELVE, and looking back that statement could not be any more accurate of my fortune. I couldn’t be more proud of all of you. I wish you all the best as you continue working in the Navy or wherever life takes you. I also look forward to hearing from your newly assigned Skipper the results of the advancement exams in March and the Command PFA. Mission First, Sailors Always!

Welcome aboard to our newest Sailors:

"Leadership is solving problems.

The day soldiers stop bringing you

their problems is the day you have

stopped leading them. They have

either lost confidence that you can

help or concluded you do not care.

Either case is a failure of

leadership." Colin Powell

"You can't save them all." ACCM Taylor

Greetings Talons!

As a reminder, the American Red Cross has moved to a single telephone

number for its emergency communication services.

All military members and their families can use one number: 877-272-

7337 (U.S. Toll Free) to send an urgent message to a service member. This means

that all military members and their families can use this single number to initiate

an emergency communication, regardless of where they live.

A call to 877-272-7337 allows Red Cross emergency communications

services to put military personnel in touch with their families following the death

or serious illness of an immediate family member, the birth of a service member's

child or grandchild or when a family faces other emergencies.

Additional Red Cross services such as case management and emergency

financial assistance also are available. For those stationed overseas, the three

options for calling will remain the same: calling 877-272-7337 direct, accessing

the number through a military operator or calling the local Red Cross station.

Spring is here and summer is just around the corner! Detachment TWO made a successful trip back to the states

with TACRON TWELVE’s great reputation intact on board the USS Bonhomme Richard. Det THREE will head back out

shortly, while Det FOUR ventures to the USS America for RIMPAC. With multiple detachments departing, remember

to help them out, stay on task, and still have some fun. Let’s show this summer we aren’t afraid for them to bring on the

heat. Until next time, keep up the good work, TALONS!
