On our farm in Pennsylvania,

We raise registered Nubian dairy goats.

In the spring,

And milking begins.

Fresh goat milk is used to make our soaps by the cold process method.

Soap ingredients include vegetable oils and shortening, sodium

hydroxide, and milk.

The sodium hydroxide (lye) is

first combined with the milk.

The oils are gently

heated, then added to the

lye/milk mixture.

The mixture is then blended until it begins to thicken.

Finally, the mixture is

poured into molds.

The soaps cure for six weeks to complete the saponification process.
