Amalraj Sengupta, a NIFT Kolkata 2008 Graduate majoring in fashion design.

The basic concept of the label “AMALRAJ SENGUPTA” is futuristic, which takes into account structural experimentation in avant-garde philosophy.

For him creativity knows no boundaries and holds no bondages.

He presumes fashion to be a form of art so expressive as to be able to exhibit one’s thoughts and bring them to reality.

His design vocabulary is unique and inspiring. His garment highlights being remarkable patterns, structures and astonishing interplay of fabrics and colours with impeccable finish.

He gets inspired with anything, starting from nature, people, culture, to movies.

He believes it’s very important to have a signature style for a designer as people should know you by your work and not your face. As the industry is growing so fast and new designers are coming in, it’s important so that you and your work do not get lost in the crowd of the existing and new upcoming designers.

. Amalraj Sengupta presented a line that revealed the creative blends of Asian inspirations

He used the Persian blue, flowery peaches and camel browns for his collection.

Used a choice of georgette, chiffon, pure cotton, silk, linen and even knits;

the designer played with these contrasting fabric weights but

eventually produced a harmonious fashionable result.

The men’s and women’s line with extreme detailing, quilting and

zipper interest had a marked oriental look with extended shoulders and

Obe like leather belts for the women’s waists.

Women’s wear was elaborately crafted with chiffon blouses that

bubbled up with pleats, and accordion pleated skirts were a

constant for most of the dresses in muted shades of blue, purple,

saffron, pink and grey.
