Shifts & Responsibilities
• Early Bird Event Setup
• Intersection Monitors
• Route Rabbits
• Will Work Where I’m Needed
• SpaceWalk
• Volunteer Care
occhd.org/wellnessnow TEAM UP FOR A HEALTHY COMMUNITY
Early Bird
• Early Birds will assist with barricade placement and are up moving most of their shift.
• Barricades are important because they restrict vehicles from entering the route. Without barricades, we have no open street!• Once the street is closed, only permitted
vehicles are allowed on the route during scheduled times.
occhd.org/wellnessnow TEAM UP FOR A HEALTHY COMMUNITY
Early Bird• The goal of the Early Bird shift is
to have the street shut down by 10AM.
• Barricades are pre-assembled on the curb. Volunteers will pull them into the street to block traffic.
• Rolling closure: walking block by block on either side of streets blocking traffic as you go.
occhd.org/wellnessnow TEAM UP FOR A HEALTHY COMMUNITY
Intersection Monitors• Intersection monitors assist Oklahoma City
Police Department officers in ensuring that vehicle traffic remains off the route and lots that are blocked with barricades.
• Familiarize yourself with your surroundings and keep an eye out for safety hazards.
• Allow food trucks, service providers, and permitted participants through barricades.
• By permit only!
occhd.org/wellnessnow TEAM UP FOR A HEALTHY COMMUNITY
Route Rabbit• Requires you to bring your bicycle!
• Ride through your assigned zone to ensure that barricades remain in place, trash is not overflowing, no safety hazards, etc.
• You act as the eyes and ears of Open Streets OKC. Report any issues to the nearest block or zone captain in your zone.
occhd.org/wellnessnow TEAM UP FOR A HEALTHY COMMUNITY
Will Work Where Needed
• If we do not have enough volunteers in a particular position then we will use you to fill in. We assign this role at check-in.• If you have a bike, you might want to bring it
so that you can be available to fulfill Route Rabbit duties if necessary!
• If you have a folding chair bring it in case you are assigned to Intersection Monitor duties!
occhd.org/wellnessnow TEAM UP FOR A HEALTHY COMMUNITY
SpaceWalk• We have two bounce houses.
• You are responsible for ensuring the safety of our youngest Open Streets OKC participants. You can absolutely step in where necessary to prevent incidents.
• Children must be accompanied by an adult! The adult does not have to participate unless the child looks to be too small to safely traverse the course on their own.
occhd.org/wellnessnow TEAM UP FOR A HEALTHY COMMUNITY
SpaceWalk
• You are not required to be inside the bounce house unless you feel that it is necessary for managing safety.
• A volunteer may be necessary to assist smaller children with the climbing wall in the obstacle course.
occhd.org/wellnessnow TEAM UP FOR A HEALTHY COMMUNITY
Volunteer Care
• Help cover shifts for volunteers while they take restroom breaks, etc.
• Deliver water and food to volunteers at their posts.• Welcome to bring a bike if you have one!
• May assist with volunteer check-in and event setup/cleanup activities.
occhd.org/wellnessnow TEAM UP FOR A HEALTHY COMMUNITY
Event Cleanup
• Assist with picking up trash, removing trash from full receptacles to designated event dumpsters, etc.
• Help with re-opening of the street by moving barricades to the curb (under direction of block/zone captains).
occhd.org/wellnessnow TEAM UP FOR A HEALTHY COMMUNITY

• Anyone allowed access to the closed street will have this in their windshield.
• No permit means no access. NO exceptions.
