MOUNTAINOUS CATS – A YEAR LATER:A DAY IN THE CATS’ HOUSE. RYZHULYA MEETS GUESTS.

Page 3: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

LET’S FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO THE CATS’ HOUSE

Page 4: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

On the staircase leading to the Cats’ House we are welcomed by the hostess – pussy-cat Ryzhulya,

accompanied by her Brother Cutie and Auntie-Motty who are holding counsel getting ready to meet us. Today is Mother Ryzhulya’s birthday

Page 5: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

We are getting closer to the birthday-girl to introduce ourselves.

Beautiful Ryzhulya gives us a piecing look. She looks like an alien from the feline planet in the Sirius constellation, doesn’t she?

Page 6: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Upon giving us a piercing look, she reverts her eyes

and becomes thoughtful

Page 7: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Krasavchik (Cutie), the head of the feline family, comes to meet us

Page 8: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

He readily turns his head to face the camera

Page 9: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Kitten Leo (Leopard) is on duty at the cats’ house entrance today. He isn’t really fond of being on duty. He is a fidget and enjoys running and jumping, so he is so sad now

Page 10: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Leo gives us a close look with his green eyes

Page 11: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

He jumps onto a stone to examine us better

Page 12: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Leo keeps an intent look on us.

He looks as alien as his mother Ryzhulya

Page 13: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Leo moves towards his Mum to ask her for advice:

how to behave in the guests’

Page 14: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Father Cutie sprawls on the stairs, letting everyone see how handsome he is.

He is not so busy as Ryzhulya. He is the head of the family

Page 15: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Father Cutie gives us a wise and evaluating look.

Page 16: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Cutie and his daughter are as like as two peas

in their appearance and behaviour

Page 17: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Everyone in the Cats’ House sitting-room looks forward to

a festive dinner

Page 18: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

So when are we welcomed to the festive dinner?

Page 19: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Waiting for the dinner Father Cutie has nearly bitten his tongue off. His daughter Krasulya is more patient, being still unaware – unlike her father – of the forthcoming dinner

Page 20: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Before inviting everybody to partake in the festive dinner,

Mother Ryzhulya carefully examines the roundabouts of the Cats’ House

Page 21: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

She has to change her position to keep an eye on all the movements of those who disturb the silence near the Cats’ House

Page 22: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

At last Mother Ryzhulya, being the hostess, leads her kids –

Leo and Krasulya – into the Cats’ House

Page 23: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

So the whole family gathers at the festive table in their sitting-room.

Page 24: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

When we are congratulating Mother Ryzhulya, Leo is all ears listening to our story about his mother whom we have known for three years already. And he has known her for only five months.

Page 25: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

The whole family – Mother Ryzhulya, Father Cutie and their kids Leo and Krasulya – are having a friendly meal (Black Sea sprats and gobies).

Page 26: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Father Cutie and his daughter Krasulya are enjoying their meal most of all. They always have a good appetite – not only for fish

Page 27: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

A nice Gobus fish has gone to Leo, the kitten

Page 28: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

And Krasulya, the pussy-cat has got quite a nice fish, too

Page 29: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Here they are – having a second helping of nice fish…

Page 30: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Having eaten all the sprats, Ryzhulya and Leo are eating some sausage dainties

Page 31: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Now it’s time for standing in line for some milk. Mother Ryzhulya makes way for everybody else.

Page 32: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Leo, the kitten is the first to approach a plate of milk

Page 33: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Father Cutie and his daughter Krasulya, after a substantial sprats and sausage meal

Page 34: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Leo is hiding behind his mother’s back: who is to blame for the spilt milk?

Page 35: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

All Ryzhulya’s family is satisfied with the festive dinner.

Page 36: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

After the dinner Mother Ryzhulya starts washing her face, and Leo, the kitten is looking for his sister Krasulya in order to go for a walk in the pine grove. Father Cutie keeps an eye on his son’s movements.

Page 37: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Mother Ryzhulya is day-dreaming of having daily dinners consisting of Black Sea sprats sausage dainties, soft-boiled eggs and milk

Page 38: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Mother Ryzhulya has made up her mind to see us off.

Page 39: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Father Cutie and Leo, the kitten are also unwilling to part with us.

Page 40: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Ryzhulya can run very fast, so she has to wait for us quite often.

She jumps from one tree onto another while waiting for us.

Page 41: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Ryzhulya shows us where we can cross the stream running through the pine grove

Page 42: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

While waiting for us Ryzhulya manages to warn a black little kitten not to cross our way.

Page 43: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

On the stairway Ryzhulya leaves us behind and takes the lead. She likes being the first

Page 44: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

She hears dogs’ barking. She knows that she is safe when we are close to her

Page 45: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

Mother Ryzulya and Auntie Motty are seeing the guests off.

Page 46: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

At parting Mother Ryzhulya gives us a keen look, as if asking: “Is it possible to make Birthday parties for Leo and Krasulya?

Page 47: MOUNTAINOUS CATS

That was a story about a single day in the life of the mountainous cats – Mother Ryzhulya’s Birthday. Unfortunately, not all days are so pleasant and happy for the mountainous cats. Their life is full of danger and difficulties. Seeing the mountainous cats, dogs rush at them, so the former have to climb trees and hang on

them making use of their claws, until dogs are tired of barking at them. That’s why the mountainous cats are always on the alert – all ears and eyes around the Cats’ House.

Sometimes they are disturbed even during their meals. Ryzhulya is especially cautious – she has to take care not only of herself, but also of her kids.

Unfortunately, people also harm them – young guys sometimes throw a stick or stone at them for fun. Therefore, they have to be afraid of people, and in no case allow you to touch them. For example, we have not been able to pat Mother Ryzhulya on the head for three years. In winter, when it's cold and snowy, the mountainous cats suffer from especially great difficulties. In 2012, winter was warm in the Crimea, but in 2011, it was very cold, snow covered the ground for one month and a half. During cold weather kind-hearted people put insulated boxes for them, bring them food and water, communicate with them, trying to support them in this difficult time.

Mother Ryzhulya is a special mountainous cat. And it would not be quite right to call her a “cat”, but rather an alien from the planet Sirius, known as the planet of cats. She is very intelligent , modest and a very caring mother.

And what is more, she is charming, 5-coloured and green-eyed.When her dear children were 3 months old, she did not abandon them as cats usually do, but stayed with

them, creating a family, just as humans do.If she is eating something and a kitten comes close to her, she will always give him his food. She will

never eat alone, even if she is very hungry, but would invite us to the Cats’ House to feed the whole family – she will go ahead, look back at us, wait for us and lead towards her house. And as we approach the Cats’ House, the kittens will meet us popping up and poking their noses into Mother Ryzhulya’s nose. And after dinner the kids come up to her and let her lick their mouths and cheeks.
