•Whether you’re completing a project at work or trying to hold the downward facing dog, it can be hard to concentrate when you’re hungry. Although it’s not ideal to eat a heavy meal before practicing yoga, it can be beneficial to ensure that your body has some fuel. When choosing food to eat before practicing yoga, try to think “light and fresh.” Snacks that are easy to digest like bananas, yogurt, or nuts are ideal, especially since they both provide a little extra protein. Feel like you need to eat something green? Try an avocado or a green smoothie.

•Opting for heavier foods will not only leave you feeling bloated, but can also make twists and bends feel cumbersome. Additionally, when your stomach is working hard to digest your last meal, it can take away from your ability to breathe deeply and fully into your belly.
