North Carolina: Safe Harbor Law
A minor will be taken into temporary protective custody if he or she is involved in a trafficking situation. The law also requires that the reporting officer must report the situation to the Department of Social Services, and an investigation into the incident must begin within 24 hours of the officer ’s report.
