CANNES DAY 7

It’s hard to imagine how La Croisette could be even more effervescent. Gwen Stefani is shooting the next commercials for L’Oréal Paris on a yacht off Cannes – and we have the first photos from that exclusive session. And sublime Doutzen Kroes climbed the stairs triumphantly Tuesday evening.

The portrait today features pretty Li Bing Bing, and all the details of Rie Omoto’s makeup for her, and her colleague Zhang Zilin answered our questions about the cinema.

Il a ensuite reçu des mains de Gilles Jacob une Palme d’Or récompensant l’ensemble de sa carrière.

Light gold all the way up to the eyebrows, deeper on the lid itself, to extend and intensify the look. A copper eyeliner to put the finishing touches on these eyes. De Marcel Carné à Kaurismäki, le cinéma demeure un long fleuve de rêves amoureux dont les films se sont faits les chroniqueurs. MAKe WAy foR LoVeRS!In Kaurismäki’s work, the characters and their names aren’t chosen arbitrarily. Which explains the name chosen for the wife of the former bohemian writer in “Le Havre”, Arletty. The same as the actress we see in the brilliantly restored copy of “Children of Paradise” shown in Cannes Classics. From Marcel Carné to Kaurismäki, cinema is a river of lovers’ dreams revealed to us all through film. Cannes, or Paris for that matter, is small for anyone who knows such a vast love, of cinema that is. SC

Le RetoUR DU MAGnIfIqUeBelmondo sur le tapis rouge, voilà un hommage qui touche puisqu’il honore le talent, l’itinéraire – d’Alain Resnais à Jean-Pierre Melville - et la popularité d’un acteur transgénérationnel dont certains n’ont malheu-reusement retenu que la partie commerciale. Un hommage qui récom-pense aussi la fraternité et la fidélité de ses amis du Conservatoire que sont Claude Rich, Jean-Pierre Marielle ou Pierre Vernier. Le plus grand honneur que l’on puisse faire à un diamant comme Belmondo, c’est de ne plus l’appeler solitaire. SC

“Le hAVRe” D’AKI KAURISMäKILes rires et l’émotion ont envahi le Théâtre Lumière lors de la projection presse. Un film magnifique sur la fraternité. Fraternité comme l’une des valeurs de la devise française “Liberté, égalité…”. Comme souvent dans le cinéma du Finlandais, la lumière côtoie l’obscur. Au propre comme au figuré. Son film part du drame et finit par s’éclairer d’optimisme. Une tragédie lumineuse ! SC

“Le hAVRe” By AKI KAURISMAKIThéâtre Lumière was the scene of laughter and emotion during this press screening. A magnificent film about fraternity, the same fraternity found in the French motto “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity”. As in many of the Finnish filmmaker’s pieces, there is a something dark mixed in with the light, both literally and figuratively. The film begins dramatically to end lightened by a touch of optimism. A light tragedy! SC

Pour vous, le cinéma est-il un moment d’évasion ou d’émotion ? Je ne suis pas encore une actrice confirmée, mais j’ai eu la chance de tourner mon premier film l’été dernier. Cela a été une expérience très enrichissante d’être une autre. L’équipe avait beaucoup d’expérience et m’a donc beaucoup appris.

Y a-t-il un point commun entre les podiums et le tapis rouge ?Oui, il faut effectivement marcher avec de belles robes, avec du monde de part et d’autre pour vous regarder. Mais il y a surtout des grandes différences. Lors d’un défilé, il faut essayer de comprendre le designer, et de mettre en valeur sa robe. Sur le tapis rouge, il faut au contraire être soi-même, bien se connaître, pour être à même de communiquer avec les autres.

Avec quel acteur aimeriez-vous jouer un jour ?Hier à la montée des marches, j’ai trouvé que Brad Pitt était vraiment bel homme… Angelina Jolie était exceptionnelle aussi !

Is cinema a moment of escape or strong emotion for you? I’m just a beginning actress, but I was lucky enough to shoot my first film last summer. It was a very enriching experience to be somebody else. The rest of the team had a lot of experience and I learned so much from them.

what do the catwalk and the red carpet have in common? In both you have to wear beautiful dresses and walk while lots of people stare at you from all sides. But they are actually really different. During a fashion show, you have to understand the desi-gner and really show off the dress. On the red carpet, you have to be yourself, know who you are, if you’re going to communicate with other people.

what actor would you like to star alongside some day?Yesterday as we were walking up the steps I found Brad Pitt to be such a handsome man… Angelina Jolie was amazing as well!
