After A Breakup, Do You Return Jewelry?When you’re in a relationship, you tend to accumulate a lot of stuff

from clothes to letters to jewelry. It is amazing what you end up with

when you are dating someone. But what happens to the stuff if you

break up? Especially for jewelry, it is always expensive. This week on

the message board, I collect some of people’s opinions. What to do

with jewelry after a breakup. Do they keep them? Throw them out?

Give them back?

1. Return It

Some girls choose to return it. In their opinion, they would never

wear it again and they wanted their boyfriends to see they meant it

when they said there would never be anything between them again.

What’ more, these jewelry are expensive, they thought it was wrong

to keep it, plus, again, they would never wear it again.

2. Return Something and Keep Something

Some tend to keep a part of it and return another part. If it were

something purchased specially for them , and meant a gift (not a

family heirloom, or an engagement ring, for instance), they do not

think it would cross their mind to return it unless asked and the same

goes for any other gift. If it is a family heirloom, they would return it.

Because they think it is disrespectful to wear them. It is a memory

from their boyfriends’ grandmother, and not theirs to keep. If they

were practical and useful gifts, they keep using them.

3. Throw It

Some neither keep it nor return it, they throw it. They ended up

throwing all the gifts given by their boyfriends after broken up, along

with all the memories from those relationships.

4. Keep It

Some will keep it. From the point of them, gifts are gifts, they needn’t

to return it back. Engagement rings are also non returnable from

their point of view. That may be the pre active cheapest divorce ever

and a warning to them for the future about rash decision. Some keep

it, but they never wear it again. They put it in their" special box", and

move on.

5. Sell it

According to some boys’ opinions, they fell really weird if someone

returned jewelry for them. What are they supposed to do with it?

Giving it to someone else would be weird, keeping it would be

useless, and they have to find some place to sell it. At the same time,

it seems kind of petty. They did not expect them back because after

break ups, everything they gave as a gift were still gifts. Just because

they are no longer dating does not mean that everything was bad or

that good memories can’t be reflected on happily. The jewelry will

make their girlfriends happier than it will them , and they can’t think

of a good reason to take that away.
