My PurposeTo help your company reach its fullest potential.
My name is Caitlyn Sheff, and I am a senior at Indiana University. Upon graduation this December, I will have acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Merchandise and a minor in Business from the Kelley School of Business. Through my five years of retail experience in the stores and my recent corporate internship, I have gained the necessary skills it takes to thrive in the retail industry. I have had much experience working directly with the consumer, learning about their habits, their wants and their needs. I also have experience working in a corporate setting, managing retail events. I was able to partake in product selection, allocations, setting marketing strategies, signage creation and off-shelf merchandising.
I truly think all of my experiences and acquired skills through both work and school can help me propel a company to the next level.

THE PRESEN
TWhere I am now…
My passion is fashion and all that surrounds it. My problem is that the corporate offices dictate so much of what and how consumers buy. I position myself as the voice of the everyday consumer. My purpose is to bring their wants and needs to headquarters and ensure that they see the styles and prices they want.
PASSIONS, PROBLEMS, POSITIONING AND PURPOSE
MY SECOND ROLE: ROLE MODEL I, myself, only play a small role in my
motivation for success. I have a 17-year-old brother who motivates me more than anything. I believe that if he sees a great role model in me, he will be so much more likely to succeed in life. He has all the potential and talent in the world, and I want him to be able to look up to me and see that he can do absolutely anything.
PRESENT PROJECTS Club volleyball
treasurer: fundraise and manage expenses to ensure that the club can afford nationals without loans.
M311: create a new marketing
strategy for Herff Jones to increase their class ring sales on the IU campus.
R490: bring new Ecuadorian fair trade products to Global Gifts.
DASHBOARD FOR SUCCESS
Excel in academics and obtain my degree
Network within the retail industry
Travel, expose myself to new cultures and learn from the experience
SUCCESS SYSTEMS Careers courses
(ex. X420) UCSO myIUcareers.co
m Professors as
mentors
Free on-campus classes for organization, interviewing, studying, etc.
THE FUTURE
Where I will be…
PERSONAL GOALS To be happy in my
current job To be able to give
back to philanthropies
To be a good role model to my brother and make my family proud
PROFESSIONAL GOALS To have a job
secured prior to graduation
To create my own business that creates a stable income for underprivileged countries
To write at least one article for Harper’s Bazaar magazine
MY VISION… I see myself starting my career in the
retail industry at headquarters. My career there will teach me everything I will need to know to eventually open my own business. A few years down the road, I will do just that. It will provide a stable economy for an underdeveloped country and will help set the standard for moral business practices. I will retire late regardless of income because I will absolutely love what I do. I hope to never feel like I am at work a day in my life.
