Breast reduction also known as reduction mammaplasty, is an operation opted by women toreduce the size of a breasts. Some opts for this type of procedures to improve their shape and

position.

Large breasts could be because of various conditions like family trait, post pregnancy, excessive adolescent growth. Which this causes some functional issues and potential cause

for other health related issues insurance will pay for part of the operations.

There are a variety of techniques for the breast reduction (reduction mammaplasty) procedure. The techniques reflect a combination of differing

skin incisions (scar pattern) and the methods used in shaping the breast substance.

Dr. Tavakoli Specialises In All Types Of Incisions Techniques like :

Liposculpture technique – Although rarely used this is effective with patients

with large breasts that are fatty in nature. The success rates are very high in these types of technique.

European technique - In this technique involves an incision around the Areola. This is best suited for breast lifting and very small breast reduction.

French Canadian technique - Dr Tavakoli’s most favoured method of reducingsmall-moderate size breasts involves the extra incision between the areola and breast crease as well as the one around the nipple.

Generally these procedures are done as outpatient procedures requiring no hospitalization. Suction drains are inserted and left after surgery with breast reduction.

Due to heaviness in the breast there is a tendency for the skin of the breast to stretch over a long period of time. With smaller breasts the tendency for sagging is relatively low. If the breasts sag further, excision of the skin on an outpatient basis can be used to correct the problem. Lifting heavy breasts without making them smaller at the same time, sagging will

return soon.

Post surgery you should plan to avoid activities such as raising of the arms above the level of the head for 10 days. You are good to drive after about 7 days after surgery. Patients can usually return to work in a few days unless

their occupation requires particularly strenuous movements and lifting. In such cases, 2-3 weeks should be allowed.
