COSTUMES
As our music video will have a heavy focus on binary opposites, we will put in absolute effort to distinguish a difference between the two sides to our narrative, the moments of happiness and the moments of sadness.
On the sadder side we will focus on a dark mood, with a grainy colour tone which will be aided by the actors costume. We will make sure during these scenes that he is wearing dark colourless attire, a stark reflection of his mentality during the sad parts of the video.
On the other side of the binary opposite, the mood will be far more joyful, as these scenes will be reflections of the past, when times were still good, and the relationship still healthy and established. In these scenes the actor will be wearing brighter clothing, specifically making sure there is plenty of colour.
COSTUMES
Another way of representing our binary opposite themes through the costumes is to have our actor wear more layers of clothing in the sadder scenes as it can be associated with winter, a season generally more disliked by the population and thought to be depressing. Where as in the cheerful scenes our character will be wearing less layers to try and denote how it may be summer, a season thoroughly enjoyed.
LOCATIONS
We have put a lot of thought into our locations as we wanted to make sure they have absolute relevance with the lyrics, and work with them well.
Some noticeable recurring locations are:
- Crossroads ( a big theme of our song is the idea the male lead is lost mentally, “He doesn’t know which way to go”, crossroads have 4 directions connoting how the actor doesn’t know which path to take)
- House/flat: The place the man lives, will be used for both types of binary opposites, to show the good times he had there, and to display his loneliness.
- Public places (Park, high street etc.)
SKATE PARK
An important location for our video is the skate park, as this is going to be another recurring location throughout the video. Will be used to represent lyrics visually; (such as male actor going around in circles on skateboard to show his relationship is going anywhere).
