The Year 1900The Year 1900

This is the story of my life during 1900 – 1914 where different things occurred which changed the life of Australia.

It was the start of a new century , where every gathered to celebrate to begin a new year many people men got drunk especially my father Jones.

Start of a new Century

It was the begin of a new year everyone was tired and depressed because of the late night they had .

The first thing which happened when I was alive during this century was the six British Colonies in our country were officially declared a federation on January the 1st . One day before the day Australia appointed there first prime minister of Australia Edmund Barton.

That same year Australia proclaimed the opening of Australia's first Federal Parliament.

The Year 1902In 1902 it was a bad year for my family my father who was a farmer so his grass never seen before ,Australia lay dried my father said, it saw 30 of my favourite sheep die including another 14 million around the nation.

When my mother was travelling back on the stem train for Queensland she told me that she saw all the dead cattle rotting under the gum trees.

Votes where extended to woman's which my mother was happy about because she always wanted to have a say.

The Year 1903Was the start of my schooling life, my parents didn't earn that my money so I was put in basic school. I felt a little bit sad to say bye to my parents in the morning but my father said ‘don't worry nothing will happen'. It was also the year of a new PM Alfred Deakin would often walk to his through the batanic gardens. One day my father told me that he had met him walking during the morning looking at the different plants.

The year 1905

This is when my Grandpa was very happy about when the government introduce old age pension. I laugh no stop because it was so funny that they got money after finishing work. My Grandpa told don't laugh because our kids and there kid will be laughing at you.

LifeWell back in those days they didn't have dish washes or machines to wash things they to wash there clothes on copper over the fire. My mother used a stick to stir the clothes and take it out of the bucket. My mother would be stuck outside cleaning clothes for hours and hours but in these days we have washing machines which clean the clothes in 30minutes.

Wages

The average wage for my family was around 22pound a week which made up only the basic for my family but we stuck together and helped each other.

Transport

My family was very poor so we used how legs as transport walking through street with horse manure and dirt lying everywhere . This lead up to very bad hygiene purpose has many people around us started to throw they rubbish on the grounds.

20th CenturyHygiene was a very bad concern for Australia tourism and for the nation if affected to alot as my father died because of the illness. People thought that if mitt of came from overseas ships which spreaded the disease around the nation. I was very scared of the rat because the where so fast to catch and kill. I was lucky enough not to catch it the illness because my mother who was my only parent couldn't afford it.

ToiletsWe where very lucky to have a toilet but the only bad thing was that we had to put our waste in the backyard and then cover it with mud. It got a bit smelly after a few day it was like my dog digging I hole and putting his waste in it.

I would get embarrassed to go to the toilet at in the open has many people walked passed looking at me.

SportMy Grandpa was a great cricket player who played as a batman he would never let the team done. And my mother was the fastest person I've ever heard about she was a big inspiration to be as I'm in a team training to go to the Olympics.

Entertainment

The only entertainment I had was a little bear I called Jones after my father. I would sleep with it in my bed and never let go of it because that was the only thing I had to play with we didn't have the ps3 now days which everyone has I had the basic of toys.

My Grandpa had a Gramophone which I sometimes listened to as well.

WorkingWhen I started working at 14 at the local paper shop I was only earning a couple of pounds which I gave to my mother to kept and spend it on the family.

My LifeThis was a summary of events that occurred during my life, we where a poor family but we stuck together as a family and supported each other. I am now 30 years and I am a parent with three girls they are all under ten years old. I am working in a factory which I own and I am earning alot of money for my family so that they have a good life and that my Kids go to a good school than I did.
