Why we need Economic empowerment?

• In nearly every country, women are also responsible for

agricultural production and selling.

• women work longer hours than men, but are usually

paid less and are more likely to live in poverty.

Why we need political empowerment?Either by law or by custom, women in many countries still lack rights to:

•Own land and to inherit property

•Obtain access to credit

•Earn income and move up in their work, free from job discrimination

Where Women Stand: Facts and Figures Women at Risk

• More people have been lifted out of poverty. yet more than 1.2 billion still subsist on less than $1 per day. According to some estimates, women represent 70% of the world’s poor.

• IFAD reports that in the developing world, the percentage of land owned by women is less than 2%.

• An estimation said 33 million refugees are women and children.

• Every minute somewhere in the world a woman dies due to complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
