In the Fall of 2013, The Los
Angeles Times declared:
The Untethered Office
takes root
The concept of an 'untethered'
office takes root - in an article
on RE brokerage firm CBRE's
offices in downtown L.A.
It reported that in this office
now no one has assigned desks
or offices, with employees
roaming freely and the report
indicated it is an example for
other white-collar firms to
follow.

The new work environment of
the digital age requires we
collaborate more; we are in
meetings more often; coworkers
are reaching out for advice.
There is a collaborative

where no business is too big to fail or

In a business environment where the work

words we use to discuss business, standbys like

redefined and rendered almost meaningless.

We must design the work &
workplace of the future ground up:
Start from scratch; Start from a
clean sheet; Developing new skills
and tools to design the workplace.
The vocabulary to
describe the workplace
must change to reflect
the change of the
workplace being
untethered.
Spaces that will allow for increase in
the probability of interactions and
quick assembly of team that lead to
innovation and productivity to
quickly react to market demands

We need to design our
building and workplace as a
weave; an urban fabric of
spaces, a collection of
buildings, spaces with a
variety of:
“Fractal” work
settings changeable
by the user and user
controlled.
Design spaces that are
fractals -a repeating setting
- spaces with self-similarity –
where in the details of a
fractal, you can see a replica
of the whole -self-like the
original, just at a smaller
scale.
