Success Exercise A SIMPLE, USEFUL EXERCISE FOR GROWTH

Are you looking for a way to build your self-

confidence, improve your enthusiasm, help

you overcome the natural tendency to give

up, procrastinate when you are met with

resistance? This is a plan that is easy to

implement and it will change your life.

FROM LARRY W. DENNIS

Step 1

• Write down 10 of your important past

successes. These accomplishments can be in

academia, military, career, family, social,

financial, physical, hobbies, recreation or any

other area of your life. Don’t judge your

successes as too small or insignificant, just

write them down.

Step 2

• Identify the personal quality demonstrated by

your success. As an example: persistent, able

to build relationships, enthusiastic, organized,

etc.

Step 3

• Now that you have written them down, start

each day by reading them aloud. The more

specific they are, the more meaningful they will

be to you.

Step 4

• When you think of some other successes, and

you will, add them to your list.

Larry W. Dennis Says:

This exercise will help you understand yourself,

you will learn what your true values are. If you

take this exercise seriously, you’ll discover what

makes you tick. Knowing these values will help

you set meaningful goals. Most people find

identifying and setting goals very difficult, but

most importantly, you will stop procrastinating,

you will go into action – you will amaze even

yourself.
