+Although many leadership lessons may come from books of famous thought leaders of the past, or blogs of the current ones, some leaders are actually deeply inspired by Hollywood’s greatest portrayed leaders. The big and small screen are full of riveting speeches that move people to go the extra mile, make a life-changing decision and fight for what they think is right. And although there are definitely tons of examples in real life of successful people that are overcoming, which you can read more about on the David Kiger SlideShare page, these have also made a big impact on the way people think and act. +Indiana JonesThis beloved action figure shows with his adventurous side on the big screen, all while making calculated risks. He ensures that these calculated risks will have a favorable outcome, which has taught leaders of his generation to not be afraid to think out of the box and consider new markets or taking potential business ventures that maybe wouldn’t have been considered before. Obviously, this will mean not only taking risks, but doing the research to make informed decisions, which is most times overlooked when taking the example of Indiana Jones. Some see him as this free-reign adventure seeking archeologist, but it’s not as simple as that. So if you’re going to take his lead, don’t lose focus of his analytical side and lightheartedness.

+James BondThis 007 agent has been on the screen for years and is always paired with gorgeous women, a quick and smart response, as well as the numerous gadgets he’s provided with by the agency. He set the pace with the most updated technological gadgets and corporate leaders around the world have caught on, knowing that on the checklist for companies being on the vanguard is a must, be it with technology, innovation or policies. The top quality that most leaders see in Bond is the way he thinks on his feet. He improvises faster than most and this quality in the business world is a necessary one, along with his people skills. Bond can negotiate his way out of a tight spot and motivate people to get them to do what he wants. He is a force of nature and people follow his lead by instinct.

+James T. KirkFor those Star Trek fans out there, James T. Kirk represents the leader that you will follow to the end of the galaxy, in his case. He always led by example and was part of the team in a real way that turned him into a natural leader. His power to command was only as good ad his rusted advisors. He made sure to surround himself by people who were experts and had qualities that complimented his. Even though he may not always see eye to eye with them, their discussions and advice, regardless if Kirk wanted to listen at the moment, were there. Leaders should take the lead from this and hire a team that has diversity in backgrounds, professions and ages. The variety is sure to lead to unique ideas and potential innovative products and services. But what really makes him special is his ability to make tough decisions for the greater good. This is something the many leaders can learn from, by making the hard call to stop producing a product or a service that does not go in line with the future of the company.

+Sherlock HolmesThis is character that jumped off the pages and onto the small and big screen in a variety of different actors and directors. Independent on who portrays this fictional character, his innate intellectual talent always comes through. He may be quite successful at his job, but he’s not necessarily the most loves by everyone. But he is definitely the one to follow when discussing an innovative thought process to approaching problems. He always shows that there is more than one way to look at a problem, and if one way doesn’t work then you should simply move on and try a new way, even if it seems a little silly. He does this by being extremely meticulous, so as not to miss the details. Your company, brands, products and services represent you, and just like in Holmes’ case it gets him to get acknowledged as the best man out there to get the job done. Being known as the best in your field will definitely get clients walking in the door, hence allowing you to reach your business goals.
