STEP 4: FINSH THE DIVORCE, LEGAL SEPARATION OR NULLITY

Within 60 days of filing your Petition for Dissolution, personally serve the other side with all the paperwork you have filed.The 60-day time frame for serving the disclosures may be changed by written agreement between the parties or by court order.

STEP 3: DISCLOSE FINANCIAL INFORMATION

• An Adult 18 years or older serves the respondent (spouse), with forms from Step 1, along with a blank Response – Marriage (FL-120). A Proof of Service of Summons (FL-115) will then need to be filed with the court, which documents when and how the respondent was served. (The respondent (spouse) is given 30 days to file his/her response. Note: you cannot proceed to Step 4 until the 30 days.)

STEP 2: SERVE THE FORMS

The person filing for a Dissolution, Legal Separation or Nullity (annulment) with the Orange County Family Law Court “Lamoreaux Justice Center” will complete and file: • Petition for Dissolution (FL-100) • Summons (FL-110) ; if you have children in this marriage you will also need to file the following form... • Declaration Under Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) (FL-105)

* You will not be divorced no sooner than 6 months after you serve the divorce papers and the judge signs your judgment.The person filing will be known as the Petitioner and the other side will be known as the Respondent
