Hip Hop MagazinesThere are various examples of magazines who use celebrity endorsement to attract their target audience. Most hip hop magazines use males as the main image for attracting both the male and female gender. The main images may attract both genders as they may be attracted to the artist(s) or may feel they are an inspiration to them. This is something I would use within my work as this is the part of the magazine which attracts the audience the most. Both images which can be seen in the examples I have used, use a plain background in order to make the main image stand out. The artists which are also used are highly popular and are used as the main image when they are in the charts of the time of publication. This is done as the audience are more likely to be interested about these artists due to being in the charts at this time period. Most hip hop magazines have a close up shot of the artists as it uses direct address to engage the audience. Again this is something which I would use within my magazine as it gives my target audience instant engagement; making them more likely to buy the magazine.

Hip Hop Main Image Clothing/Accessories

The artists of which I would use within my front cover would be likewise to what is used in current hip hop magazines. A successful artists who is known world wide by artists will highly attract the audience, however their clothing and accessories are also important. In the examples which are seen one artists in not clothed however his tattoos can be seen. Lil Wayne may be seen as highly attractive to women and could be inspirational to men. His tattoos express his ‘don’t care’ attitude and this could be something which black ethnic minorities stereotypically agree with. This is something I would like to use within my magazine although it is hard to find someone with tattoos within my age range. I would find accessorises which can create a tattoo affect on my models to add to the hip hop genre and make sure my audience can recognise this. In the second example Dr. Dre a hugely successful male and Kendrick Lamar a huge success also can be seen in clothing. The clothing of which they are wearing is seen to be highly expensive as well as the accessories. Kendrick Lamar has chains, bracelets and rings which are gold- again showing the expense of which he is worth and wearing. This is something I would do within my magazine as the chains etc could connote not only my high quality magazine but may give the audience someone to aspire too.

People who would fit my genre

These four images which I have shown in this powerpoint are people who I am likely to include in my magazine front cover. This is because hip-hop music is mainly aimed at black males and females. However, I will use male and females throughout my magazine as both genders are my target audience.
