What are Web Push Notifications?

Web or browser push notifications are clickable messages, similar to app push notifications, that websites can send to their users on desktop and mobile browsers.

The report is based on three data sources:

- 100 SMBs and 100 general website audience in the USA to find out how web push notifications were perceived

- 1000+ websites to derive insights on optimizing notifications for achieving better results

- 500 PushCrew users to understand how and why websites use web or browser push notifications

- 55% of general consumers reported they are aware that websites can send push notifications

- 67.3% of SMBs surveyed reported that they are aware of website push notifications

Quite impressive numbers, given the fact that website push notification is a fairly new technology and is still at an evolving stage.

Usage by Industry

- e-Commerce industry leads the band of early adopters at 21.10%- News, media, and blogging comes second with 17.60% of users coming

from this domain- 14.70% of users are from the SaaS industry- Some of the other domains in the running are Education, Non-profits,

Telecom, and Healthcare.

What happens to my CTR if I send too many notifications?

CTR of a push notification steadily declines every time an extra push notification is sent on the same day.

What are users usually worried about? Hesitations about using web push notifications

- Most common hesitation felt by businesses and individuals using web push notification is: Causing irritation to users and making them leave the website
