DESCRIPTION
The Problem: most donation forms have static ask strings so they ask donors for the same amounts every time. The problem with forms that have static ask strings is that they may be asking past donors for too little or too much. In this session we will learn how to use SalsaScript to build "smart" donation forms. The Ask Is Right Building Salsa Donation Forms That
Ask for the Right Amount Every Time August 7, 2014
What Are Dynamic Ask Strings?
• These are ask strings that are calculated based
on a donor’s online and offline giving history.
• Dynamic ask strings are usually calculated from a
donor’s most recent contribution (MRC) or highest
previous contribution (HPC).
• A safe strategy is to use MRC during your
normal/low fundraising months and HPC during
holiday or event-driven months.
If you have the resources, analyze your organization’s donor data for the
right mix.
Why Is This Important?
Changing your donation form’s ask string to match a
donor’s previous gift can:
• Increase your response rate by 50 percent.
• Increase your average gift by 40 percent.
• The biggest positive impact will be on your
average gift.
A high response rate and high average gift means
more revenue.
Revenue Lost Calculator
Using CDR’s own revenue lost calculator, you
can calculate the potential revenue earnings
from including dynamic ask strings on your
donation forms.
