HOW THE INTERNET CHANGES THEWAY WE REMEMBER

WHY RECORDING HISTORY IS SO IMPORTANT

Throughout history people would record events and stories so future years would understand the past and study it. There was always a struggle to find a material which would last for generations without erosion or decay.

Today, historians recognise that the everyday memories of everyday people, not just the rich and famous, have historical importance. If we then do not collect and preserve those memories and stories, one day they will disappear forever.

With the invention of computers, we now have the facilities to ensure that memories and history can be kept forever.

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”

- George Santayana
