DESCRIPTION
Blogger has made it easy to implement meta descriptions in blog articles and pages. Just writing a quality blog post isn't enough to achieve blogging success. Meta descriptions are HTML or XML elements that tell search engines about your blog and its content. These descriptions will also appear as snippets in search results and when you share a post in social media networks. Optimizing BloggerFor Better Search Results
Just writing a quality blog post isn't enough to achieve blogging success. Meta descriptions are HTML or XML elements that tell search engines about your blog and its content. These descriptions will also appear as snippets in search results and when you share a post in social media networks.
Now, we will learn how to properly add meta descriptions to your Blogger blog and its quality content.
Log in to your Blogger account. This should take you to your “Home” pagewhere all your blogs are listed. Select the blog you want to optimize.
From the “Overview” Dashboard – Choose “Settings” in left navigation menu.
This brings you to the Settings > Basic page. Here you will write a searchfriendly description of your blog (Maximum 500 characters).Don't forget to “Save Changes”.
Now, you want to select “Search preferences” from the left navigation menu. This is actually the “meta tag” section for your blog. Enter a summary of your blog in 150 characters or less.
Congratulations! You have successfully enabled “meta description” for your blog.
In order to optimize your content, you must do the same thing for each blog post and page.
From the Settings > Search preferences page you just finished, select “My blogs”at the top left of the screen.
This will take you back to your “Home” page where all of your blogs are listed.Select the same blog where you just added the meta description. In the left Navigation menu – Select “Posts”. You must “Edit” each post individually.
When you arrive at the editing screen, you should now see a new item under “Post Settings”. You arenow able to add a “SearchDescription”. Click “Done”when you are finished. Don't forget to click “Update”to save your changes.
Follow the same procedurefor each individual post on your blog.
When you are finished with“Posts”, do the same thingwith all of your “Pages”.
If you want to check to see if everything worked . . .
One of the easiest ways of checking is to view the “Source Code”:
Simply right click on any page of your blog and select “View Source Code”.(You can also hit “Ctrl + U” on your keyboard.)
Your are looking for code that looks something like this:
<meta content='....the description you entered ....' name='description'/>
If you found it, everything is working. If not, you need to go back to make sure you've done everything correctly.
Don't forget!
Every time you add a post or page to your blog . . . ADD the meta description!
