The word contents is not used to indicate that this is a content page which is an unusual

convention to use and instead the sentence ”We Love This” is used in bold writing on

top. This sentence may have been used to intrigue the readers into thinking what the

magazine loves and if they might love it too. The text is in black which makes it stand on

the white background catching the readers attention.

Title

A editors note is a very common convention used

in magazines. It is mostly done to connect with the

readers on a more personal level and it also feels

like the editor is talking directly to you. Also placing

a picture of the editor further personalizes it. The

editors signature in the bottom uses a font that

seems like he has signed it himself.

As this is the biggest image on the

content you can assume that this is

the main article in the magazine. The

page number is included on the right

side of the image to make is easier

for the reader to find the article. Also

the pull quote on the bottom gives the

readers an idea of what they might

read later on.

These are other smaller images included in the content page

all of them have page numbers written on top of them, for easy

navigation, and pull quotes have been used to catch the

readers attention.

“Inside this month” has been used instead of the common convention “Features”. This

tells the readers about articles in the magazine, this also makes the readers feel like

when they read these articles they will be up-to-date with what is happening.

The page number are bold and easy to read, these tell where each article is and what

each article covers

Strap lines

The strapline includes posters of famous celebrities. This is a great way to attract

readers as they would read the magazine to find their favorite celebrities posters as this

magazine is aimed at teen girls who are the target audience of these celebrities too. The

magazine has also given the link to their website for readers get more involved with the

magazine or if they want to find out more about the magazine.

The convention of writing contents on the content page had been broken here, the

magazine has only written the name of the magazine and the date underneath it, the

name of the magazine is hidden by the hand of the artist which connote that the

magazine is popular.

Title

The convention of using a features column has been

used here, this column is used to tell readers what

articles are in the magazine. Features has also been

underlined in blue making it more prominent

They have written the page numbers right next to the

articles for easy navigation the title of the article has

been separated for the information below it by using a

smaller size and writing a title in bold.

Some information about the front cover has also been

giving about who is on the cover and what

photograher shot him.

Features

In this content page only one image has been

used, and this image takes up most of the

page, while in contrast other magazines use

multiple images, this could have been done

because the artist is very popular and readers

would be happy to see only her on the content

page.

The artists is wearing black with dark markup

on her eyes she also has messy and wild hair

and she is holding a guitar this could indicate

that she is a rock artist.

Her expression carefree and happy and fun she

looks like she loves what she does.

The way the artist is reaching out her hand

makes the reader feel like she is reaching out

to them.

The lighting used is low key lighting giving the

effect of a shadow. There is also a pull quote on

the side which is very unusual for a content

page to do but it’s a good way to attract reader

by giving them a little hint of what they might

read

Contents is not written as prominently as it usually is in magazines but instead it looks

like a its part of the date which is not such a clever thing to do as readers might miss

that very easily.

Title

Only one image has been used in the content

page and this has always been the amount of

pictures vogue uses in their content page.

The model is in a modern up to date attire

because the target audience for their

magazine is women who cant afford high

street fashion.

Even though the model is wearing a bikini the

background looks gloomy when there should

be bright colors, the windy effect adds to the

beach look. but just by looking at the model

you can see that she isn't wearing clothes that

are usually worn by people going to the beach

but they look different and edgy and they look

and you can denote that is a fashion

magazine.

The key fill lighting used makes the image

more clear and makes the models clothes

stand out.

Columns

Vogue has used several columns to feature

their articles. The font used is relatively

small, this could be because they want more

attention on the model or that they have lot

of articles they want to show.

The use of white on grey makes the white

and red stand out an colors don’t clash but

look very appealing. The use of black and

red on white on the other column is also very

eye catching.

The last column is separated by a red line

and say sin big uppercase letters “Subscribe

to vogue” this could have done because the

magazine wants the readers to notice that

and want to subscribe to the magazine.
