  1. 1. How to use ClusterDesktop Note: Before connecting to your computer, download and install ClusterDesktop on it. For more information see Tutorial on how-to run ClusterDesktop on Linux. To start working remotely on your computer use one of the following methods VNC, RDP, SCP or noVNC connection: I. VNC connection 1. Check on your account if VNC port is open click once on it if closed / when the button is white the port is closed, and when the button is blue the port is open for one connection / ClusterDesktop
  2. 2. How to use ClusterDesktop ClusterDesktop 2.For VNC, RDP and SCP connection we suggest using Remmina package /you can use any VNC, RDP or SCP client available on Linux/. Open Terminal and type sudo apt-get install remmina, press Enter, type Y and press Enter as shown in the picture 3. Start Remmina 4.Setup as shown in the picture below

In the site of ClusterDesktop, when logged in, check if RDP port is open click once on it, if closed 2. Start Remmina 3. Set up as shown in the picture below 3.1 Type name of the connection 3.2 Set Protocol to RDP - Remote Desktop Protocol 3.3 Type your server and RDP Port as shown in the picture below ClusterDesktop

  6. 6. How to use ClusterDesktop III. SSH Connection 1. In the site of ClusterDesktop, when logged in, check if SCP port is open click once on it, if closed 2. Connect to VNC server, using SSH tunnel Start Remmina and set up as shown in the pictures below 2.1 Set Protocol to VNC - Virtual Network Computing 2.2 Type name of the connection 2.3 Type localhost:55900 2.4 Type your remote computer User name 2.5 Click SSH 2.6 Uncheck Enable SSH tunnel ClusterDesktop

  9. 9. How to use ClusterDesktop ClusterDesktop 2.12 Click on Tunnels 2.13 Type 55900 2.14 Type localhost:55900 2.15 Click Add 2.16 Click Open 2.17 Type your remote computer Use name and press Enter, then type your remote computer password and press Enter

Connect to RDP server using SSH tunnel Start Remmina and setup as shown in the pictures below 3.1 Set Protocol to RDP Remote Desktop Protocol 3.2 Type name of the connection 3.3 Type localhost:3389 3.4 Type your remote computer User name 3.5 Click SSH

In the site of ClusterDesktop, when logged in, check if SCP port is open click once on it, if closed 2.Connect with SFTP Protocol Start Remmina and setup as shown in the picture below 2.1 Type name of the connection

How to use ClusterDesktop ClusterDesktop Example: server-001.clusterdesktop.com:1031 2.4 Type your Username /this is the username of your host computer, NOT the ClusterDesktop ones/ 2.5 Click Connect 2.2 Set Protocol to SFTP-Secure File Transfer 2.3 Type your server and SCP Port as shown in the picture below
  16. 16. How to use ClusterDesktop 2.6 Click OK ClusterDesktop 2.7 Type your host computer Username's password and click OK 2.8 Click OK 2.9 You can choose file and click Download or you can click Upload to transfer files from and to your computer

  18. 18. How to use ClusterDesktop ClusterDesktop Click OK Click Run Click on New SFTP Connection as shown in the picture
  19. 19. How to use ClusterDesktop ClusterDesktop Type your server, SCP port, username and password of the remote computer /Note that username and password are the credentials of the Windows PC account, and not the ClusterDesktop ones! / and click Connect as shown in the picture

How to use ClusterDesktop ClusterDesktop If your remote computer is Windows based set up as shown in the picture the folder /cygdrive holds all the disks of your PC You can see two areas when you connect with JFtp as shown in the picture below Area 1 directories and files of the device you are using to connect to your remote PC
  21. 21. How to use ClusterDesktop ClusterDesktop Area 2 directories and files of the computer on which you installed ClusterDesktop your Remote PC. You should select file to transfer from one of those areas and destination folder from the other Press one of the arrows to transfer from one direction to another
  22. 22. How to use ClusterDesktop ClusterDesktop 4.How to use FireFTP Go to http://fireftp.net/ Download FireFTP Click Allow Install FireFTP and restart Firefox
  23. 23. How to use ClusterDesktop ClusterDesktop Click on Transfer files online with FireFTP Add-on for Firefox Open Mozilla Firefox and login to your account in ClusterDesktop site
  24. 24. How to use ClusterDesktop ClusterDesktop Click Yes Type username and password of the remote computer, click OK If your remote computer is Windows based, type /cygdrive and press Enter to see your device file structure as shown in the picture bellow

How to use ClusterDesktop ClusterDesktop You can see two areas when you connect with FireFTP as shown in the picture bellow Area 1 directories and files of the device you are using to connect to your remote PC Area 2 directories and files of the computer on which you installed ClusterDesktop your Remote PC.

  27. 27. How to use ClusterDesktop ClusterDesktop IV. NoVNC connection 1. Login to your account in ClusterDesktop site 2.Check if noVNC port is open click once on it if closed 3. Click on Open noVNC HTML5 as shown in the picture
  28. 28. How to use ClusterDesktop ClusterDesktop Note: If your internet connection is slow, you can set different timeout for connecting with noVNC as shown in the picture
  29. 29. How to use ClusterDesktop ClusterDesktop 4. Type: 1 - your server and noVNC port /if not already filled in/, 2 - your VNC password if you have one (if note leave blank ) and 3 - click Connect as shown in the picture
