Why EquinixPlatform Equinix Platform Equinix comprises a global footprint of IBX data centers and a global marketplace where companies connect to their customers and partners to form critical business ecosystems. Together these components are helping Box accelerate growth by safeguarding its infrastructure, improving performance, and providing direct connections to their digital supply chain. “Having our largest customers just a cross connect away helps us forge stronger business relationships, a huge advantage that we could not get from other data center providers,” said Routledge. “Other colocation sites give you four walls. Equinix is a partner that cares about our business and helps us connect with a global marketplace of partners and customers. That’s very rare.”

A Global PlatformEquinix is located in 38 strategic markets in 13 countries across 5 continents, enabling customers to rapidly deploy application nodes and network PoPs worldwide. This made it easier for Box to expand into new geographies with the assurance of receiving the same quality of service and performance.

Equinix’s commitment to adding capacity to existing locations and expand globally means that Box will be able to grow its infrastructure where and when it needs to through a single partner. “Having a stable platform and partner eliminates a whole layer of risk, giving us greater confidence to grow,” said Routledge. “We sleep better at night knowing we’re in the best facilities.”

Reduced Latency By leveraging Equinix’s global footprint to get closer to its customers, Box is improving customer application response times by 60 percent. This is especially important for Box’s global customers who are moving assets across large distances.

Carrier NeutralityThe world’s top carriers, networks and ISPs are accessible through Equinix IBX data centers. Equinix’s network choice makes it easier, faster and less expensive for Box to leverage the exact network it needs with a simple cross connect.

Ease of DeploymentWorking with Equinix on deployments allowed Box to get its infrastructure up and running in less than a day. The Equinix staff has coordinated with the Box team on timing equipment deliveries and installs to ensure the most expeditious process, and any issues have been resolved quickly. “The caliber of the Equinix staff is superior to any other facility I’ve worked with,” said Routledge. “When I need to open a ticket, they understand my business, my requirements, and my urgency. They are smart, professional people who get things done quickly and painlessly.”

SecurityOne of Box’s top initiatives is “Security First,” and Equinix meets their security requirements, including compliance with Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70. Every Equinix IBX data center delivers world-class process and physical security, utilizing an array of security equipment, techniques and procedures to control, monitor and record access to the facility, including customer cage areas. “It’s paramount to our customers that their data is secure, and physical security is very high on the list,” said Routledge. “With Equinix’s reputation for the highest levels of security, this is something our customers don’t have to worry about.”
