Solving the Tough Stuff: We believe the only way to stay ahead of a rapidly evolving business world is to be relentless about staying on top of it. Some people distinguish the psychological aspect of a brand from the experiential aspect. Modern value-creation branding-and-advertising campaigns are highly successful at inducing consumers to pay, for example, 50 dollars for a T-shirt that cost a mere 50 cents to make, or 5 dollars for a box of breakfast cereal that contains a few cents' worth of wheat. Today, cloud computing is hot and will only get hotter over the next few years, but one of the burning issues 'clouding' its future is figuring out what customers actually are paying for to move their IT to the Cloud.

Of course available an consistent user experience are ley objectives, but Extreme can bring this plus simplicity and transparency between their virtual network and their traditional switched network. Extreme can improve operational efficiency through automation and reducing the operational costs. By moving your IT infrastructure to the Cloud it enables you to put your entire IT infrastructure through formalized rent-vs.-own scrutiny while vetting potential providers and doing cost analysis over a three- to five-year period.

Industrys First Solution That Bridges Management and Analytics - Extreme Application Analytics is a Network-Powered Application Analytics and Optimization solution that captures network data and aggregates, analyzes, correlates, and reports on it to enable better decision making and improved business performance. It is the industrys very first and only patent pending solution to transform the Network into a Strategic Business Asset by enabling the mining of network-based business events and strategic information that help business leaders make faster and more effective decisions. It does this all from a centralized command control center that combines Network Management with Business Analytics, and at unprecedented scale (100M sessions) and scope.

Application Analytics allows IT operations to optimize the network for each and every application, enhance security for those applications and provide data for business analytics. This empowers IT to turn the network into a strategic business asset that can now provide value to other lines of business, and it enables business innovation powered by the network infrastructure. Application Analytics intelligence provides IT with the visibility and control of applications and websites (including related sub-web sites) resident in all parts of the network, from the wired or wireless edge all the way through the core and datacenter, as well as application traffic from the Enterprise to the private Cloud, public Cloud or any service on the internet.

The Summit X770 series switches are high-density, purpose-built top-of-rack switches designed to support emerging 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 40 Gigabit Ethernet- enabled servers in enterprise and cloud data centers. Summit X770 helps optimize new server deployments with its 40 GbE ports each can be used natively as uplinks to BlackDiamond X8 chassis or other Summit X770 acting as spines and each 40GbE port can connect directly to servers using 40GbE speeds or by breaking down into 10GbE connections acting as the leaf. The Summit X770 can be used as a spine or a leaf in fat tree topologies for servers with 10GbE and 40GbE ports. Summit X670-G2-48x-4q: 48 x 10GbE + 4 x 40GbE QSFP+.

A stacking rate of 320 Gbps can be achieved across a stack of X670-G2-48x-4q and X770 switches using the QSFP+ connection and cables. These switches can use 80-Gbps stacking connections that provide 320 Gbps full duplex bandwidth.

It is important to understand there are many different stacking technologies Extreme Networks offers.SummitStack Original stacking technology with proprietary stacking cables SummitStack-V Stacking using standardized media interfaces such as XFP, XENPAK, and SFP+SummitStack-V80, -V160, -V320 High Performance stacking utilizing QSFP+ technology

There are a lot of advantages to stacking, and with the Extreme XOS operating system, the stack has the same abilities that would be found in a chassis. Extreme Networks stacking technology provides centralized management of the stack -- the master node with a single IP address. The connectivity cost is low. A stack is flexible and it is scalable for future growth. A stack can start out with two or three switches, and more can be added later. Switches can be mixed and matched. If, for example, a stack needs a couple ports of 10 gigabit, a 670 can be stacked with some 460s and some 440s. It can give you the proper amount, so you can pay as you grow.

X770 Distribution Core

The Summit X770 provides latency less than 600 nanoseconds and supports cut-through switching to help optimize high frequency trading applications as well as latency sensitive cluster computing. Each base model is available with either front-to-back or back-to-front cooling. There is no operational difference between these switch versions.32 40-Gigabit Ethernet ports capable of supporting passive copper QSFP+, and active fiber QSFP+. With quad fan-out SFP+ cables, the QSFP+ ports can be divided 10-gigabit data lanes: 24 of the ports can be divided into four 10-gigabit data lanes, and the remaining eight ports can be used as single 10-gigabit data lanes. This yields a total of 104 10-Gigabit ports.A serial console port on the front panel of the Summit X770-32q series switch allows you to connect a terminal and perform local management. An Ethernet management port can be used to connect the system to a parallel management network for administration. Alternatively, you can use an Ethernet cable to connect this port directly to a laptop to view and locally manage the switch configuration. The Ethernet management port supports 10/100/1000 Mbps speeds. There is also a USB port. The X770 also supports Boundary Clock (BC), Transparent Clock (TC), and Ordinary Clock (OC) protocols for synchronizing phase and frequency, and allowing the network and the connected devices to be synchronized down to microseconds of accuracy over Ethernet connections.Switch cooling is provided by five hot-swappable fan modules providing N+1 redundancy. Fan modules are available in two different models that direct the airflow either from front to back or from back to front. All five installed fan modules must be of the same model, so that they all direct the airflow in the same direction. Two power supply bays accommodate either AC or DC power supplies. Power supplies have integrated cooling fans that operate independently of the switch fans. Like the fan modules, the power supplies are available in models with either front-to-back or back-to-front cooling airflow.

Summit X770 provides high density for 40 Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet switching in a small 1RU form factor. With its versatile design, the Summit X770 series provides high density Layer 2/3 switching with low latency cut-through switching, and IPv4 and IPv6 unicast and multicast routing to enable enterprise aggregation and core backbone deployment in AC-powered and DC-powered environments.

Summit X770 series simplifies network operation with the ExtremeXOS modular operating system (OS), which is used among all Extreme Networks Summit and BlackDiamond Ethernet switches. The high availability ExtremeXOS operating system provides simplicity and ease of operation through the use of one OS everywhere in the network. 40 GIGABIT ETHERNET & 10 GIGABIT ETHERNET PORTS The Summit X770 model provides 32 x 40 GbE QSFP+ ports which can accept QSFP+ passive and active cables, as well as QSFP+ transceivers. 40 GbE ports can be configured as a 40 GbE port or as four 10 GbE ports. The 10 GbE port mode can be supported by a 40GBASE-SR4 QSFP+ transceiver and fan-out optical cables, and is compatible with the 10GBASE-SR optical interface for distances up to 100 meters. 24 of the 32 QSFP+ ports can be broken into 4 ports of 10GbE. The remaining 8 ports of QSFP+ can also be converted into a single port of 10GbE giving a maximum of 104 ports of 10GbE connections in a 1 RU device. The Summit X770 is capable of Layer 2 and Layer 3 forwarding at up to 1904 million packets per second forwarding rate
