What is our initiative?
Who are our Vulnerable Youth? Youth who fall through the cracks
Youth who have needs which don’t fit into medical or mental health models of care
Youth who are displaced
Youth who have parents, responsible adults or guardians who are unwilling, unavailable or unable to provide
testimony to their needs
Youth who present to the Emergency Department and other responsible adults are not present or are unknown

Sample of 60 youth had 388 ED visits over 5 years, median
4/youth.
37% were mental health or substance use as primary diagnosis;
21% seen for injury
Youth workers work with youth with high ED utilization
