Faith experience at the

time oF death

Many Good Samaritan Society locations offer a

bedside memorialfor residents who die.

When a loved one dies,family and staff members

nearby are invited to gather at the bedside of the person.

A service may include:

• Saying prayers• Reading passages from the Bible• Singing hymns• Sharing memories of the person

who died• Reciting the Lord’s Prayer

Giving a benediction, commending the one who

has died into God’s loving care

The bedside memorial is short and provides

immediate support to family as they begin to grieve.

It is also a reminder that within the Christian faith tradition, death does not

have the final word. God does.

And God’s word is full of life and hope.
