At the parkStep 3:
…Where a neighborhood kid hada li’l ol’ accident yesterday.
Dog gone it! After a nice day going barefoot atthe park, Mr. Footman steps on a piece of glass.
Step 4: Walking Home
Mr. Footman has beenworking inside all winter,so his feet have lost theirprotective coating andcallouses. He sustains abunch of tiny cuts andscrapes… and doesn’teven notice them.
The cuts and scrapes allow infections andbacteria to enter - like MRSA, which mayrequire major medical intervention.
Public places—especiallywhen moist—are oftenteeming in e. coli, hookworm, and other bacteria that canenter through cuts.
Vigorous exercise aftermonths off can increase yourchances of serious injury, particularly in the achillestendon or the tarsal tunnel.
Puncture wounds can havenasty consequences, liketendonitis. If you sustain apuncture wound, see amedical professionalimmediately.
Putting moist feet intofootwear that doesn’tbreathe well can bring onAthlete’s Foot and avariety of other conditions.
Mr. Footman’s summer walk exposed himto the dangers of:
SunburnCuts and ScrapesViruses and bacteria like e. coli and MRSAAchilles tendon injuryTarsal Tunnel syndromePuncture woundsTendonitisAthlete’s Foot
And just for good measure:Mr. Footman is so injuredhe’s now going to do a lot ofsitting, which is terrible forcirculation.
All we can really say toMr. Footman is…
