What is IFPN? Interna<onal Federa<on of Periopera<ve Nurses a Global Organisa<on dedicated to promo<ng periopera<ve nursing world wide. IFPN supports periopera<ve nurses working towards globally improving pa<ent care by promo<ng safe surgery and evidence based prac<ce standards though research and educa<on.
IFPN -‐Membership world wide represents over 100,000 periopera<ve nurses IFPN has 11 current financial members – ACORN AfPP AORN SOBECC EORNA GORNA JONA KAORN ORNAC PNCNZ PNG PNS
IFPN is the only interna<onal speciality organiza<on represen<ng periopera<ve nursing at an interna<onal Level though the Interna<onal Council of Nursing –ICN. IFPN is the link though ICN on interna<onal ac<vi<es and nursing issues forming policy and influencing World Health Organisa<on (WHO) agendas. Other affiliate speciality groups within ICN are: -‐Council of Interna<onal Neonatal Nurses(COINN) -‐European Federa<on of Nurses Associa<ons (EFN) -‐Interna<onal Federa<on of Nurse Anaesthe<sts (IFNA) -‐Interna<onal Skin Care Nursing Group (ISNG) -‐Interna<onal Society of Nurses in Cancer Care (ISNCC) -‐NANDA Interna<onal -‐Sigma Theta Tau Interna<onal (STTI) -‐World Federa<on of Cri<cal Care Nurses(WFCCN)
ICN -‐ ICN is a federa<on of more than 130 na<onal nurse associa<ons and affiliate specialty organisa<ons represen<ng nursing world wide ICN vo<ng members are the na<onal nursing organiza<ons throughout the world. What is Australia ‘s nursing organiza<on that links to ICN?
The Key focus this year at the CNR mee<ng was the discussion of Developing Health -‐ Human Resources for Health Strategy (HRH). The CNR was addressed by Jim Campbell Execu<ve Director from WHO -‐ Global Health Workforce Alliance. Council of Nursing Representa<ves (CNR) mee<ng is the venue for members and affiliate groups of ICN to provide guidance to the ICN board and management on key issues and strategies for ICN to pursue.

EORNA –All 27 Countries that sit on the European Opera<ng Room Nurses Associa<on were recently surveyed and only three currently have non-‐nurses in the opera<ng room-‐ England, Netherlands and Turkey. AfPP – Opera<ng Department Prac<<oners (ODP) regulated workforce with Diploma/Degree qualifica<ons. New Zealand -‐regulated anaesthe<c technicians Nurse Anaesthe<st roles – European countries, USA and some other Asian Pacific countries – Korea. Korea all registered nurse workforce and poli<cally sensi<ve agenda for government to increase enrolled nursing posi<ons.
