Can teeth and gums give clues about overall
health? Anyone knows the strong connection
between dental health and overall well-being.
But, listening and sharing the information to
others is different from actually taking an
action and answering the problem.
Oral health issues, such as cavities and
gingivitis, are a global burden. In kids, the
habit of thumb sucking may look cute and
adorable. When neglected, however, it may
lead to tooth loss and other serious
problems.
For many parents who are busy at work or
household chores, it is easy to ignore the
effects of poor oral hygiene. Some blame
that most warning signs are not noticeable
and hidden in the mouth, but attention can
go a long way towards healthy teeth.
The Link Between Lifestyle and Cavity Prevention
A new study reveals that an organized lifestyle is the key to preventing tooth
decay in younger age groups. There are already several reports that highlight
the relationship between cavities and lifestyle factors. But, according to recent
studies, this is the first time to focus on regularity and structured lifestyle, and
how it may affect a child’s quality of life significantly.
To come up with the conclusion, the scientists analyzed an existing data
collected through dental checkups and questionnaires. After that, they
examined the lifestyle factors of 9-, 15-, and 21-year-olds, and determine if
there are impacts on dental caries experience.
Healthy Choices
The study discovers that both parents’ rules at home when it comes to
frequency of tooth brushing, regularity of drink consumption daily, having
breakfast, and visiting a dentist can help in preventing oral problems in kids.
Researchers note that not having breakfast increases the risks of having
cavities. In addition, eating and drinking more than seven times every day
may lead to increased chances of developing tooth decay for the 9-year-olds.
Dental professionals argue that oral health should get the attention it
deserves, as it’s more important than what some might realize. Knowing the
importance of lifestyle and preventative industry is important for improving
kid’s overall health.
