First of all, protective eye shields are placed on the patient.The reaction of the skin to the laser is tested so as to identify the most effectiveenergy for treatment.The treatment consists of positioning a hand piece against the skin surfaceand activating the laser light.While smaller tattoos require fewer pulses, larger ones need more. In eithercase, the tattoo removal requires numerous treatments and multiple visits.After each session of the treatment, the tattoo becomes progressively lighter.Soon after the treatment, an ice pack is applied to relieve the treated area. Thepatient can then apply a topical antibiotic cream or ointment. A bandage orpatch is placed to protect the area and it should be covered with a sun blockwhen you go outdoors.
