Skin is one of the most important parts of the body, yet we tend to undermine it the most.

It is actually considered to be the largest organ as it covers the most surface area and plays such a vital role in protecting our body.

The skin has such an amazing ability to retain itself and take care of its own functions, however, most of us ignore the concept of skin nutrition.

We like to believe that the skin can take care of itself but that’s a big NO! The skin is like any other part of our body-it requires care and nurture to efficiently function.

If we don’t nourish our skin properly, it will only reflect only that, leading to low confidence and self-esteem.

We all aim for flawless skin, but it can be quite the task! Let’s look at some tips on how to maintain good skin

Have you heard of the phrase, “you are what you eat”?

This saying can totally apply to your skincare regime as well!

Your diet plays a huge role in how your skin presents itself..

In terms of your diet, make sure to eat healthy, non-processed foods low in artificial sugar, but rich in vitamins A, B, C, and E as much as possible.

The occasional ice-cream is ok but don’t make junk food a huge part of your diet, as it can have a dramatic effect on the skin

Another dietary advice would be to stay HYDRATED!!

Our bodies are composed of 75%water and our cells constantly need water supply to flush toxins from the body, allowing for new tissue formation.

Drinking at least 8 glasses of water daily can have the greatest impact on your skin as in about a week, you can see less blemishes, disappearing dark spots, and a radiant glow!

So throw out those soda bottles and start drinking nature’s best thirst quencher: PURE WATER!

A healthy lifestyle is even more important to maintain great skin.

It’s the only way you can slow aging, prevent wrinkles and blemishes, and ensure great skin every day.

Get plenty of sleep(at least 7 hours a day), quit smoking and alcohol, exercise often, and stay away from harsh environments with lots of pollution.

Most importantly, stick to a healthy skincare regime daily with quality products!

It is essential to preventing acne, dry skin, and helps clear up that skin of yours.

A sample regime would look like:

1) Remove any makeup with oils or makeup remover every day! This is crucial!

2) Cleanse your skin with a soap-free, gentle cleanser in warm water

3) Rub an alcohol-free toner with a cotton ball to close pores

4) Moisturize with an oil-free, non-comedogenic lotion.

5) If you will be going outside, make sure you use a sunscreen with at least 15 spf.

There are several naturally affordable methods for guaranteeing great skin too, but I would try these on a weekly/monthly basis.

Exfoliate skin with a quality skin scrub at least once a week to create a radiant complexion and to clear clogged pores.

Steam your face at least twice a week to allow your pores to “sweat” out toxins and clogged up debris, preventing blemishes as well as showing healthy skin.

Although it may be a little costly, visit spas and try out various facials. The skin experts can really clean up your skin and advise you on individualized skin regimen plans.
