IntroductionIt is undeniable that the number of individuals who suffer from various illnesses, from common to life-threatening ones, keeps on growing within minutes. It is a truth that most of us are aware of, but are we doing anything to solve this major problem?

Often times, some people do not notice the symptoms of an illness because they are too busy with work, with taking care of their families, and with everything else that is going on in their lives. Some of these people may think that providing for their families is a bigger priority than keeping themselves healthy.

Thousands of people acquire diseases every day and some of them take action only when the disease reaches a severe stage. Are you one of these people?

Chapter I – An Introduction to Using HerbsThe term “herb” originally refers to a small seed-bearing plant with herbaceous parts that include roots, stems, leaves, and flowers. Apart from this meaning, herbs can now also be referred to as shrubs, vines, ferns, lichens, fungi, algae, and trees. According to a scientific research, the sacs that hold the essential oils of a plant are found in between the cells of an herb’s roots, leaves, and flowers. Each of these sacs can hold up to 2,000 chemical elements that facilitate the healing effects of the herb. Since a single herb contains multiple ingredients, this means that it can also have multiple purposes.

Herbs can be grown by any individual, can be sold in raw form including the leaves, stems, flowers, seeds, and roots, and can be sold by manufacturers as extracts where it is liquefied with a solvent (i.e. water or alcohol) to squeeze out some of its chemicals. A research made by Grand Rounds at University of California, San Francisco Medical Center showed that approximately 20% of the world’s population use processed herbal products as it has gained rising popularity over the last ten years.
