At the time when General Santos City was experiencing light rain showers,

super typhoon Yolanda brought central Philippines to its knees as it

made landfall. Leaving more than 5,000 people dead, a thousand more

missing, and millions of people homeless in its wake, Yolanda is

currently one of the strongest storms

on record.

“We intend to give the proceeds of the ukay-ukay

to the victims of the typhoon in Samar.”

Total Quality Management (TQM) is

an approach that seeks to improve

quality and performance which will

meet or exceed customer

expectations. This can be achieved

by integrating all quality-related

functions and processes throughout

the company. St. Elizabeth Hospital

Inc. held its 27th Session of Total

Quality Management on October 23-

25, 2013 directed by the Quality

Management Office and SEHI Quality

Management Representative Antonio

G. Veneracion, CPA.

A fiesta event that raised the eyebrows of many when it was declared official. Some never even thought a “Bodega” existed in our institution. Most couldn’t be blamed since the warehouse isn’t really visible to most eyes as it lies behind the more sought after facilities of the institution. But like the people behind the scenes of a spectacular movie, the warehouse deserves

On the last minutes of the basketball championship game, the

score is on dead heat. Silence overcame the crowd as Mr.

Freddilou Templado, orderly in the ER unit, took the shot that

could win the game. The excitement and thrill was breath-

taking and everything was like in slow motion as the ball travel

towards the sky as though it was destined for the heavens.

And then as it reached the peak of its momentum, it aimed for

the goal and hit nothing but the net. This shot claimed them

as victors of the 3-on-3 basketball event!

If there was a scene that would picture cooperation and

coming together of people for a common goal, it would be this.

After a number of failed attempts to reach the top individually,

the violet team, NSO, tried placing one person on top of the

other to reach the top of the pole in Palosebo. They put their

shoulders together pushing each other upwards so they could

all reach their goal making Crab Mentality feel sorry for itself.

But before that, who would have thought Manuel Cabangbang

has got the guts to go for the flag? Our employees really are

full of surprises with their potentials!

Commitment is running for another mile after our strength’s all

consumed up and during the Fiesta Fun Run, we proved this

literally. On the last turn of the run to the finish line, one can

witness the frustrations on the runners’ faces as they come to

realize the additional distance they have to advance for.

Instead of taking the turn as a shorter route for the line,

runners need to circle the oval plaza one more time as an

extra grind but we are SEHI employees, we don’t back down.

Frustrations turned to determination and runners put their

game faces on ready to bury their teeth on this endeavour. As

one runner reach the finish line after the other, we can all say

that we did what has always been told us to do: Go the extra

mile!

After winning the first set, Marissa Alovera of the NSO, being

a good player that she is, kicked off the second and final set

of the volleyball championship game with 11 straight aces.

This brought the blue team to its knees as the department

heads, who decided to play for their team on the 2nd set,

braced themselves for her next service. The ball came in

lightning speed gearing towards Ma’am Rosie Suan of the

Laboratory Department. She tried hitting the ball but failed.

The referee blew his whistle and declared that the service is

out-of-bounds giving the blue team their first point of the set!

After realizing what happened, Ma’am Rosie claimed that she

did not hit the ball on purpose.

The Palosebo became the highlight of the Palarong Pinoy

event where every team has got to reach the top of a bamboo

pole and secure their own respective flags positioned there.

Jaws dropped as Mr. Gabriel Maladian of team Logistics

reached the top in no time without batting an eyelash.

However, he secured the wrong flag and needs to hang

himself on top a little longer in order to return the mistaken

flag and acquire the correct one. He went down as fast as his

ascent and the crowd raised their voices in astonishment as

he run towards the organizers to finally submit their flag for the

win. But to everybody’s surprise, after all his efforts, he still got

another team’s flag so he needs to go up the pole once more!

Amazingly, he still did great and they were still pronounced as

champions. After the talent we showcased in Palosebo, who

says the hospital needs an elevator?
