Enable analytics in healthcare by end-to-end data management

Embed Size (px)

DESCRIPTION

Data management is a major concern for organizations when implementing analytics particularly because of the the volume of structured and unstructured data. Organizations are also unable to generate actionable insights from analytical results and integrate into business processes. Many are unable to track end-to-end delivery of a product or service. To cater to these issues enterprises should adapt methods such as using third part host, setting up collaborations across interested parties and enabling the automatic integration of analytics results into managing business processes. This infographics highlights the gaps and solution for managing and integrating data end-to-end. To view the entire IBM IBV paper visit http://bit.ly/HCAnalytics

Manage data through overarching analytics strategy, centralize data collection and enforced standards.

Automate integration of analytics results into managing business processes.

Implement common analytics terminology so both analytics and business staff can understand each other's analytical needs.

Electronic health record adoption accelerating: EHR is at different stages of maturity across the world with countries having different drivers

DENMARK• Ease of implementation due to small size

and clinical acceptance• Patients can select their data via the national

health portal online • The system has allowed physicians to see 10%

more patients a day, saving about 50 minutes

First mover

CHINA• Integrated health system in the next 5 years • Lacking common standards and data models. • Currently only Shanghai has seen healthcare

data integration with 30 hospitals currently connected across six districts

Planned

NEW ZEALAND• The catalyst for this project was the 2011

Christchurch earthquakes• Pilot project rolled out in 6 months at a cost

of $NZ1.5m• The result was a cloud-based electronic

shared patient record system

Immediate need

UNITED STATES• Within the Accountable Care Organization

program, hospitals are held accountable to benchmarks

• Data transparency is being driven through new regulations, but standards still lacking

• EHR adoption in U.S. hospitals will increase from 12% in 2009 to 90% in 2016

Driven by regulations
