Power Outage Insight Solution Cost-effective and reliable solutions for 24/7 access to safe electricity

Schneider Electric helps to keep you from working in the dark

Hospitals demand consistent, highly available power to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective operations. Even though the electrical distribution systems for critical power environments are complex to install and maintain, your mandate is to keep things running regardless of budget constraints or an aging infrastructure. Should a power failure occur, your facility crew need to take swift and correct actions to resolve the outage. In the healthcare business, downtime is not just an inconvenience. The cost of electrical interruptions can be enormous, even fatal.

As the global specialist in energy management, Schneider Electric offers the only solution capable of providing energy availability while addressing staff and cost allocation constraints. Designed specifically with small to mid-sized hospitals in mind, the Power Outage Insight Solution acts as a 24/7 in-house electrical expert. It monitors your critical power availability, issues warnings on power quality, schedules predictive maintenance, and most importantly, in case of a power failure, it performs real-time diagnostics to quickly identify the source of the problem for your staff to restore normal operation.

Easy to install and operate, the unique Schneider Electric solution provides the optimum amount of information needed for taking informed actions and proactive decisions to:

Decrease operating expenditure with “just-in-time” and “just-enough” centralized information

Increase power availability with predictive maintenance and shorter mean time to repair

Improve overall safety with short-circuit testers and wireless control units to safeguard staff from electrical hazards

Lower insurance fees through real-time diagnostic and scheduled maintenance

Protect your hospital’s reputation as a reliable centre for uninterrupted patient care

Safe. Simple. Smart. Reliable.

The long-term control of your electrical network for safety, ease-of-use, and traceability

A reliable electrical infrastructure is the backbone for the smooth, long-term running of any hospitals. The energy network should be safe and easy to maintain, freeing your staff to attend to the crucial tasks of quality patient care. The power monitoring and control features allow you to do just that.

Complex operations are simplified thanks to Power Outage Insight Solution. Ideal for new sites, it can also be easily integrated into existing switchboards to coordinate smoothly with power monitoring systems already in place.

Power availability for new and existing sites

Step-by-step instruction guides you through configuration setup, making the process straightforward

Web-based interfaces and simple processes to save time during emergencies or normal operations

An integrated solution with no additional software required

Short-circuit testers and wireless breaker closing controls to protect your staff when performing power restoration or predictive maintenance

Safe and simple to configure and use

For the long run, whether it is an emergency situation or routine operation, accurate documentation of the system architecture is vital for quick reactions and cost-optimal decisions. Yet often times, changes to the electrical connections or layouts are not properly documented and maintenance status.

The information database keeps track of every change that happened to your electrical distribution network, facilitating you in: Accessing updated reports

With the combination of a few components, the Power Outage Insight solution provides the data you can act on for managing an electrical crisis safely, and scheduling predictive maintenance to prevent failures that require switching to emergency conditions and backup power.

For daily functions, our solution provides real-time diagnosis, delivering vital information on the condition of your breakers and loads. In a single snapshot, your personnel can see the number of trips a breaker has endured, the load on each breaker, and the mechanical endurance of your equipment and maintenance status.

This level of visibility brings: Maximum power availability by

preventing downtime with warnings when network abnormalities arise

Increased power quality with orderly, time-based maintenance

Traceability with records of repairs and predictive maintenance, and relative service life of each device

Ease of network expansion with accurate documentation of the load tolerance of each breaker

Cost savings from improved overall system management

The clear picture for predictive maintenance, power recovery and traceability

Simple and effective solutions for maximizing critical power uptime

100 traceability of events, repairs and maintenance.

The command center of the Power Outage Insight solution is the Power-E box, a dedicated computer for real-time load assessment, aging algorithms and wear-parameters. Via a centralized information dashboard, the Power-E box helps you to accurately determine the condition of your network, breakers and protection equipment.

During a power outage, our unique solution: Sends immediate SMS or email

Dependable insight for power availability

Our solution helps to protect staff against electrical shock with the Short Circuit Tester. It allows users to check the presence of short circuits between the downstream feeder and the load. Designed for ease of use, your staff can simply disconnect the loads, push a button on the Short Circuit Tester and within three seconds receive a colour-coded signal that indicates if the short circuit is still present.

Arc flash can destroy equipment, and cause a fire and injury or death to anyone standing nearby. Our solution comes with a wireless breaker closing control to shield personnel from arc flash dangers. This wireless unit is specifically designed for Masterpact breakers. Maintenance personnel can safely close the Masterpact breakers from up to 8 meters (26 feet). Compact, light weight and with no batteries to replace, it is always ready when you need it.

Even when an electrical fault can be repaired, safety of personnel remains vital.
