FUTUREFUTURE

The top worry among students from all countries was about their future. Almost a quarter of the interviewed teenagers ( 26%) mentioned their future as a main factor of their worries.

According to the near future, most of the young people are constantly worried about their school failure and success, money problems, family or home problems, bad living conditions, having bad friends and not achieving enough in life.

We have chosen to present some of teenagers’ worries and thoughts about future as a jigsaw puzzle which symbolizes our intentions for successful achievements and prosperity. Each of the pieces presents a different aspect from young people’s life.

All of the students share the problem of school success as one of the most important. Eighteen Portuguese students determine school pressure as a worry, followed by Italians (11 students) and Polish and Bulgarian teenagers with 9 students for each country.

On the other hand, we often study in order to fill the high expectations of our families and teachers and may lose our self-confidence when we fail. That’s why it’s very important for us to make sure that our study goals are achievable.

17% of respondents specify health problems as an important factor of their worries;

The most common health problems through teenagers are connected with eating disorders – anorexia, bulimia and obesity;

anorexia are emotional problems, poor body image, ill health, and premature death, less chance of promotion, unemployment and self-consciousness.

Depression is another factor with which over 13% of the respondents feel uncomfortable.

Depression makes life very difficult to cope with. When young people are depressed, they feel miserable and can’t enjoy things anymore

UNEMPLOYMENT

In economy crisis conditions 9% of the students are embarrassed by unemployment and 19 students are worried by the increasing of the poverty. The highest number of respondents in this graph is the Greek students.

Unemployment and poverty bring social and personal issues which worry the young people today:

If people become chronically unemployed, it also affects their families and children. Their children might have to miss school and get a poorer education.Unemployment and poverty can also push people into crime as people look to illegal ways of making money.

THE END OF THE WORLDTHE END OF THE WORLD The results show that 9% of European

teenagers worry about the end of the world. The ancient Mayan calendar points 21st December 2012 as the exact day because that’s when the calendar ends.

We may not be able to predict the end of the world but one thing is for sure, we can end this world as destroying our environment.

TERRORISMTERRORISM 8 % of the respondents specify

terrorism as a main worry. Polish students have the highest proportion in this graph (17 students).

Terrorism is when people use violence and it’s often connected to politics but affects innocent lives.
