DESCRIPTION

Womb twin survivors are the sole survivors of a twin or multiple pregnancy. Their twin died in the womb or around birth. This very early experience leave a profound immersion on the survivor, but it not fully accessible until a vocabulary is provided to understand it The Womb twin hypothesis states that womb twin survivors seem to spend their lives re-enacting the life and death of their womb twin. Nothing appears to be more important than that, even life itself. Once the real pre-birth scene -“The Dream of the Womb”- which is being constantly re-enacted, is made clear, then the re-enactment tends to diminish or cease altogether, greatly to the benefit of the individual. Womb twin survivors have a tendency to become involved in codependent relationships, seek wholeness in other people and have an exaggerated sense of group responsibility. The style of relationship adopted appears to be an attempt to recreate the lost twin in their Dream of the Womb. All is made clear once we see that the chosen style of relationship depends on the number and zygosity of the other embryos or fetuses also present in the womb. The diagrams provided make all this abundantly clear

The Womb Twin hypothesisWomb twin survivors seem to spend their lives re-

enacting the life and death of their womb twin. Nothing appears to be more important than that,

even life itself. Once the real pre-birth scene -“The Dream of the Womb”- which is being constantly re-enacted, is

made clear, then the re-enactment tends to diminish or cease altogether, greatly to the benefit of the

individual.

The lost twin in relationship

How womb twin survivors re-enact their

own womb story in intimate relationships

1. Co-dependency

2. Self-absorption

3. Group responsibility

Page 5: Womb Twin Survivors 2 - Relationships

Fraternal (dizygotic) twins

The DZ womb twin survivor seeks a brother or sister to replace their lost twin.

They choose another womb twin survivor!

Page 6: Womb Twin Survivors 2 - Relationships

Co-dependency

A female womb twin survivor lost a twin brother in the womb and carries a vague sense of male energy

A male womb twin survivor lost a twin sister in the womb and carries a vague sense of female energy

1. The encounter

Page 7: Womb Twin Survivors 2 - Relationships

The male partner has a deep sense of a missing fragile female intimate which undermines the expression of his natural male energy

The female partner has a deep sense of a missing fragile male intimate which undermines the expression of her natural female energy.

Co-dependency

2. Seeking the soul mate

Two separate dreams

Page 8: Womb Twin Survivors 2 - Relationships

A tendency to sabotage the relationship to re-enact the original pre-birth tragedy.

Co-dependency

3. A clash of dreams

A strong desire to recreate the original pre-birth twin dyad.

Page 9: Womb Twin Survivors 2 - Relationships

Identical (monozygotic) twins

The MZ womb twin survivor seeks another brother or sister to recreate the

original twin pair

Seeking wholeness in others

The Alpha survivor

The lost identical (MZ) Beta twin

1. The lost identical (MZ) twin in the Dream of the Womb

There is a feeling of being “two people in one” but in reality there is only one individual left alive.

MZ=monozygotic

Page 11: Womb Twin Survivors 2 - Relationships

Seeking wholeness in others

The Alpha MZ twin survivor is closely identified with the Beta twin

2. Keeping alive the lost “other half”

In a desire to help the MZ twin to survive, the Alpha qualities are given away to the lost twin in the Dream.

Page 12: Womb Twin Survivors 2 - Relationships

Seeking wholeness in others

The identical (MZ) womb twin survivor is totally identified with their lost twin and constantly focused on maintaining his or her own existence

This part of the Self is very

vulnerable and fragile and needs

constant and absolute

attention, so all energy is directed

inwardly

3. A spurious sense of wholeness

Page 13: Womb Twin Survivors 2 - Relationships

A multiple pregnancy

The sole womb twin survivor of a group of embryos or fetuses seeks always to

restore the original group

Page 14: Womb Twin Survivors 2 - Relationships

Group responsibility

The lost fraternal twin

The lost identical twin

The multiple womb twin survivor

1. The multiple womb twin survivor is conceived into a group

Note: this is only one example. Multiple pregnancies vary in both numbers and zygosity.

Page 15: Womb Twin Survivors 2 - Relationships

Group responsibility

The lost fraternal (DZ) twin

The lost identical (MZ) twin

The multiple womb twin survivor

The multiple womb twin survivor seeks to bond with both the identical twin and the fraternal twin.

2. Attempting to recreate the original womb-mate bonds

Note: this is only one example. Multiple pregnancies vary in both numbers and zygosity.

Page 16: Womb Twin Survivors 2 - Relationships

Group responsibility

The lost fraternal (DZ) twin

The lost identical (MZ) twin

The multiple womb twin survivor

3. Keeping the group together: the main mission in life

Energy is directed both inwards and outwards to “heal the world” at considerable personal cost

Note: this is only one example. Multiple pregnancies vary in both numbers and zygosity.
