A person suffering from back pain may suffer from muscle ache to shooting or stabbing pain, inability to stand straight, lack of flexibility or range of motion. The pain may radiate to the extremities where numbness and tingling sensation may be felt. Physical trauma may also cause back pain. Pain which last for more than 3 months is considered chronic back pain. One underlying cause of chronic back pain is pinched nerve, compressed nerve or herniated disc. Pain killers are not really of help, but there are alternative medicine, like chiropractic, which corrects spinal subluxations to cure chronic back pan.
