Introduction
We did a study on a major NZ event. It was on the Wahine disaster. Our key Questions were:
What caused the Wahine to sink?How did the Wahine sink?Where and when did the Wahine sink?
When and where did the Wahine sink ?
The Wahine sank on the 10th of April 1968 in the mouth of Wellington Harbour on Barrett’s reef.
What caused the Wahine to sink?
The cyclone Giselle caused the Wahine to sink by pushing it into the rocks of Barrett's Reef . The wind reached 100 knots or mph.
How did the Wahine sink ?
The Wahine sank because it got grounded on the rocks of Barretts Reef.
How many survivors there were569 people survived in the Wahine Disaster . 51 lives were lost at the time and another died later as a
result of her injuries.Some people lost their lives because they got
slammed against the rocks of Barrett's reef.
