patients and their families exceptional care
Caritas Consortium 2013Volunteers – Adding the Special Touch
Intent to Contribute Statement:Over 200 caring volunteers are distributed throughout the hospital and medical center. In the
hospital we have great services that are for both the patients and our patients families and
visitors. Our most recent service, is serving complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate to
the families and visitors of our patients in all the units. Our For Your Comfort Program offers a
concierge like service to our patients who may have forgotten something at home or need a
diversionary activity to take their mind off their stay. Our No One Dies Alone Program offers a
volunteer to sit with a patient who has no family or friends to be with them in their last
moments of life. There are many other services such as balloons for patients birthdays and
stuffed teddy bears for those who need something to hug or cry with. Although these extra
services from our ancillary department is difficult to measure with numbers or a matrix you
can always measure the smile of our patients as well as the nursing staff knowing their patients
received something special.
