Premarital SexIt is a sexual intercourse between two individuals who

are not married.

Why are they doing it?•Curiosity•For some, it is a proof of love that strengthens the relationship•People’s sexual desire “lust”•They want to know if their partner is compatible to them.

•In the Philippines, 26 percent of our Filipino youth nationwide from ages 15 to 25 admitted to having a premarital sex experience. •38 percent of our youth are already in a live-in arrangement.

•The 1998 National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) reveals that 3.6 million of our teenagers 5.2 percent of our population got pregnant. In 92 percent of these teens, the pregnancy was unplanned, and the majority, 78 percent, did not even use contraceptives the first time they had sex. Many of the youth are clueless that even on a single intercourse, they could wind up pregnant.

It's not easy to be teen-agers nowadays. They are constantly confronted with new social roles, new

relationships, and having to get used to their body changes. Other issues include financial uncertainty,

and fears of growing up. Thus feelings of stress, confusion, self-doubt, and pressure to succeed can

be overwhelming to teen-agers.

Other external factors include, the pressures of modern life; competition for good grades and college

admission. Increasing violence in the newspapers and on television lead to more teenage suicides. It's

also easier to get the tools for suicide nowadays.
