Their ages ranged from 20-55+

years old with a mean of 34

years.

First time drug users ages ranged

from 10 to 49 years with a mean

age of 18.7 years.

Daily income ranged from 30.to

200.PKR with a mean of 124.PKR. 

Daily expenses on drug use ranged

from 30 to 200.PKR with mean

Family and Community attitude

Almost near to half said the past family

attitude were hatred (48%), (33%) were

having a sympathetic attitude and (19%)

were having an avoiding attitude.

The present family attitude was hatred

(75%), avoiding attitude (16%) and

sympathetic attitude (9%). Approximately (89%) said the community

attitude to them was hatred and (11%) with an avoiding attitude.

When asked about substance users in the IDUs family (45%) said yes and (55%) said no.

Almost all said their job or school performance suffered from drug use, (88%) said yes with (12%) saying no.

The mode of drug use was (100%) by injection.

Reason of shifting & Drugs overdose

The reason for injecting drugs was (63%) said easily available, (20%) said standardize, (15%) said better high and (2%) said purer.

Asked have you ever overdosed on any drug (93%) said yes and (7%) said no.

Almost all wanted to quit the drugs with (83%) were saying yes and(17%) said no.

Asked have you ever had health problems due too injecting/ drug use (63%) said yes with wounds, (22%) said with swelling, (6%) said with jaundice, (3% ) said with abscess, (2%) said TBC, (2%) said asthma and (2%) other.
