About the Owners of BrightStar Lake Forest

Phyllis

comes from a family of nurses and watched her mother work in Hospice for years; finally receiving hospice care.

As long distance caregiver of Larry’s father, Phyllis understands the frustration of managing care when you can’t be there every day.

Zachariah,

their son, having been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 1999, has seen healthcare from the patient perspective.

When Zach moved to the Midwest in 2007 to be closer to his grandfather who was in a nursing home, he watched his grandpa and his Uncle Al deal with physical issues and Alzheimer’s disease, bringing him face to face with the realities of finding quality care.

Stephanie,

Zach’s wife, has a degree in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training.

She has worked in the medical field since

2000,

and assisted in the

rehabilitation of her grandmother

who suffered from a stroke in 2006.

People Kid Care Coordinator, Lorie Briggs

Lorie Briggs, BrightStar’s KidCare Coordinator, is the mother of two teenage boys, Jake and Zach. In 1993, she found herself struggling to juggle her full time job and the needs of a colicky child. As a single mom she felt helpless, as she was called from work nearly every day to pick up her crying son. This led to her passionate calling to open Lorie’s Lambs Daycare, a licensed daycare in Huntington Beach, to help carry the weight of other moms dealing with the issues of working and raising a family. “Each one of those kids was like my own,”

she says, and today

she continues to stay in touch with many of her no longer so little “lambs”.

Lorie’s compassionate heart for children and the needs of their parents, especially special needs children, has led her to reaching out to them through our excellent BrightStar program. She loves building a care plan for each child based on his or her needs and interests, and has real compassion for every child and adult she serves.
