• You will be given medication in tablet form to take home
• You will take these just prior to your appointment as directed
• The mild sedative will relieve nervous tension

• You can not drive
• Arrange a companion
to assist you at drop
off and pick up
The Day of your Treatment Appointment

• Pick-up time will be pre-arranged
• Your travel companion must return to the office to escort you home
Plan for After Your Treatment Appointment

Your Treatment Appointment
• You will be allowed to relax until you feel sedated enough for treatment to proceed
• Should you require more sedation we will prepare you
• Treatment begins once you are relaxed
• You will be sedated and very relaxed but still responsive and awake
• An assistant will be with you at all times

• Once treatment is finished, you will begin to come out of your sedation
• Your companion will escort you from the office.
• The dental team will assist if needed

• You will have little or no memory of your appointment or the rest of the day
• Take the rest of the day off from work
• You may need assistance with stairs due to diminished balance
• Please use due care
After your Treatment Appointment

• It is safe to breast feed and have sedation dentistry.
• Just follow the 3 simple steps:
1. Express and save breast milk the day before the treatment appointment.
2. Express and discard the day of the treatment appointment. Use the milk saved from the day before.
3. Resume normal breast feeding the day after your appointment.
