This is a cancer that could be all but eradicated.CRC is one of the most preventable cancers. It is 95% preventable and yet only 53% of Canadians get checked regularly, 80% do not get tested at all. What does this mean in human numbers? In 2013, 1 in 13 men and 1 in 15 women will be diagnosed with CRC in Canada. This amounts to approximately 23,900 new cases (about 13,200 men and 10,600 women). Over 22,000 cases of CRC are diagnosed each year because people are too embarrassed to be screened and too embarrassed to talk about the symptoms until it’s too late.

Along with their spokesperson, NHL alumni Darryl Sittler, Screen Colons Canada sets out to loosen the deathly grip of embarrassment with one act: raise awareness of the preventability of CRC to eradicate this disease. And they strive to achieve this serious goal with a little bit of cheek and a lot of humour. We are talking about bottoms after all!

The Board of Directors of this small charity work tirelessly to fund their awareness programs through smaller, intimate fundraising events each year. Of course these events rely on the generosity of those who attend, but the truth of the matter is that charities must rely on the loyal support of appropriate sponsors and prizing partners.As a small organisation, SCC must continuously strive to build those relationships using a variety of methods: customized sponsorship packages ensure that our partners achieve their ideal return on investment; unique, creative digital marketing strategies, social media and PR campaigns provide expanded brand placement and the opportunity for consumers to revisit their opinion of the brand in a positive way; on-site activations that are tongue in cheek whilst still respecting the seriousness of the subject matter

On Wednesday, 6 November, SCC and Darryl Sittler will be hosting a very fun and slightly cheeky evening: The Royal ASScot! Based on the celebration and entertainment that arises around one of the most famous horse racing events in the world: the 5 day annual Royal Meeting in Ascot, UK, this event is used by many as an excuse to get dressed up, have fun with friends and to have a bit of a flutter!

This campaign is designed to raise awareness of Screens Colon Canada and The Royal ASScot, by celebrating the city’s “Top Bottom” in T.O. The word “top” would imply a popular person but not necessarily the city’s most beautiful. Some examples include: local politicians, media personalities, sports personalities, business leaders, local comedians, chefs, financial executives, artists, and medical professionals.

On November 6, 2013 Screen Colons Canada and NHL Hockey Hall of Famer Daryl Sittler will host an intimate fundraising event called The Royal ASScot. Not to be confused with the posh horse racing event held at Ascot, UK, The Royal Ascot, and this Royal ASScot is all about your bottom. With a little bit of cheek and a lot of humour the Royal ASScot aims to highlight the seriousness of colorectal cancer in a light-hearted way. The Royal ASScot will mark the end of the T.O. Top Bottom contest to raise awareness of colorectal cancer. The event showcases the announcement of Toronto’s “top bottom” – a local community leader Torontonians voted best among them.

Screen Colons Canada needs the support of (Insert Name) to make this campaign a reality. Our vision for your participation in these events is ideally through donations and by leveraging your brand’s status to increase the exposure, and awareness, of: colorectal cancer, Screen Colons Canada, The Royal ASScot, and the Top Bottom contest.

With support from industry leaders like (Insert Name), Screen Colons Canada can make colorectal cancer a thing of the past. Colorectal cancer is 95% treatable if diagnosed early. Yet, 80%of Canadians do not get tested at all. This has led to an average of over 22,000 new cases of colorectal cancer being diagnosed in Canada each year.

The T.O. Top Bottom contest challenges Torontonians to review the profiles of their best and brightest leaders, then cast their vote on whom they like most. The profiles will be hosted on the Screen Colons Canada website, though we also envision utilizing your brand’s website to generate tra�c for the Top Bottom competition. We would encourage The Top Bottoms to wear your clothes for their profile pictures, and at The Royal ASScot event.
