Successful women who were effected by HIV/AIDS share their thoughts on the disease, how we can prevent it, and how we can be advocates for good sexual health at our university.

First African American woman to come public with AIDS/Activist :

Dr. Lajoyce Brookshire
Gave a shocking testimony about her fight against AIDS
Found out her husband was infected with full blown AIDS after he had passed away
Stressed that Knowledge is Power

Has been living with AIDS for over 19 years.
“We must create an environment that is conducive for people to be who they are.”
HIV cannot be transmitted through Sweat, Slyvia, Urine, nor Tears

Hurricane Katrina refugee had eight family members depend on him while he was laid off from Tulane University

Founders of the organization were gracious enough to talk about their experiences with 100 Black Men of America, Inc.
Keynote Speaker:
John Stumpf is the Chairman, President, and CEO of Wells Fargo. He made it clear that his business serves no higher priority than supporting the community in it’s effort to achieve a better quality of life, especially the lives of the youth.

Strawberry’s comedic personality had the room full of laughter the entire night

Ledisi also stayed after her performance to speak with fans, and give autographs

Award winning, multi-platinum artist Keyshia Cole, took time out of her schedule to come out and take pictures with Collegiate 100 members.

Award winning actor, film director, and political activist Danny Glover, conversed with members of The Collegiate 100 about his career and delivered encouraging words
Glover stressed the importance of mentoring, and giving back to the community

Youth from across the nation displayed their respective talents
Poems, songs, and speeches were performed
All of the kids were mentees of the 100 Black Men from different regions

Collegiate Diversity
The main focus of the conference was to create new, innovative ways to incorporate diversity into our campus lives.
Networking is Key
These are some of the people we met throughout the conference.
We have new ideas for forums and potential guest speakers.
How We Can Benefit Others at UA
Provide students with the resources, via their mentors, that will enable them to achieve their educational goals.
Increase retention and graduation rates by providing students with valuable information via their mentors
Provide mentors and mentees with the opportunity to become leaders in organizations.
Enhance the relationship between the University and its students.
